A data mapping is a table or array that associates data fields received from or sent to an external application with properties or other sources or destinations within Process Commander. Data mapping is defined in service and connector rule forms.
When a Process Commander system interfaces with an external system, information flows in two directions — from Process Commander to the external system, and vice versa. At runtime, Process Commander interprets the data mapping instructions in the rule forms and executes these instructions.
The format, data representation, and packaging of information vary depending on the technology and protocols being used in the interface. However, in all cases two mappings occur during an interchange:
