Model rules
Completing the New or Save As form

Create a model rule by selecting Model from the Technical category.

A model rule has two key parts:

Field	Description
Applies To	Select a class that this model applies to. The classes you can enter here may depend on the RuleSet you select. On the Restrictions tab of the Class form, a class rule may limit rules applying to that class to belong to one of an explicit list of RuleSets. C-356
Model Name	Enter a name that is a Java identifier. Begin the name with a letter, and use only letters, digits, and the dash character. See How to enter a Java identifier. A conventional name for the first or simplest model in a class is pyDefault. This name is not reserved and has no special significance.

Rule resolution

TTTT Full rule resolution applies to model rules. When searching for model rules, the system:

• Filters candidate rules based on a requestor's RuleSet list of RuleSets and versions
• Searches through ancestor classes in the class hierarchy for candidates when no matching rule is found in the starting class
• Finds circumstance-qualified rules that override base rules
• Finds time-qualified rules that override base rule
