How to find and understand sibling rules |
Sibling rules are rules with the same name (key parts), but different RuleSets or versions.
1. Use the Actions >View Siblings menu on the rule form toolbar to search the entire PegaRULES database for rules that share a second key part with the currently displayed rule. A pop-up dialog displays all the rules that share the same second key part as the current rule. (Not all of these are true siblings. This display is most useful for rule types with two key parts that have an Applies To class as the first key part.)
The display may include rules in RuleSets you can not access, rules that are unavailable, and rules that have time-based or circumstance qualifications.
Rows of the top area correspond to Applies To values. Numbers in brackets show how many distinct rules (counting siblings, versions, circumstances, and so on) are in each class. Hold the mouse pointer over a number to see or open that rule.
Columns of the top area identify RuleSets and versions. Each cell of the report containing an icon indicates that a rule of that name and Applies To class exists, with availability based on the icon:
If the rule contains a circumstance, a "Circumstanced" link appears in the rule header. Click the link to display the circumstanced property and value.
Use the Applies To field to change the value and click Get Related Rules to view rules with the same second key part in other classes.
Click the expand button to view a legend for this window.
Click the expand button to list the rules found. Columns identify the Applies To class, the RuleSet and Version, availability, and qualifications if any.
