Back Forward Working with screenshot data

Use screenshot data to add context to your Application Document images.

For example, you can show a set of selected items and prices in your images for a Purchase Order case type. This gives stakeholders a realistic picture of the application's user interface.

Define screenshot data

Start by identifying a case type in your application with screenshots to capture. Verify the case type is included in the generated document by reviewing selections in the Case Types and Supporting Specification Types section.

Define the screenshot data for this case type by following these steps:

  1. Using the top-level +Create menu in the Designer Studio, create an instance of case type. Enter values and make selections in each section of the UI to depict a realistic use case. Take note of the work object ID when you finish.
  2. Navigate to Step 2 of the Application Document Wizard.
  3. Click the Define Screenshot Data link next to the case type name to open the Define Screenshot window. Enter values in the following fields:
  4. Click Create to translate the work object's values and settings into a data transform. In Step 3, the wizard uses this rule to set values (properties) in each screen before taking a screenshot.
  5. Click Close to exit the Define Screenshot window.

Repeat this process for each case type with screenshots to include in the Application Document.

NoteTo include a case type in the screenshot catalog, you must define screenshot data for it.

Update screenshot data

To change individual values in the current screenshot data:

  1. Navigate to Step 2 of the Application Document Wizard.
  2. Click the Data Defined on [date] link next to a case type.
  3. In the Define Screenshot window, click the Existing Screenshot Data icon to open the data transform.
  4. Use options on the Definition tab of the rule form to update individual values.
  5. Save and close the data transform when finished.

To overwrite screenshot data with values from a different work object:

  1. Navigate to Step 2 of the Application Document Wizard.
  2. Click the Data Defined on [date] link next to a case type.
  3. Enter the ID of a new work object in the Work ID field.
  4. Select an application ruleset and unlocked version in the Ruleset name and Ruleset version fields.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Click Overwrite to replace the existing screenshot data with the values from the new work object.
