Copying standard rules from the Work- class

Pega 7 provides hundreds of useful standard rules that apply to work items. Your application can use many of them directly, without modification. In other cases, you can copy them to supplement the standard capability with a more application-specific name, behavior, or capability.

The Applies To class of these rules is Work- (or in some cases, Work-Cover- or Work-Folder-). To make these standard rules easier to find, the Work- class is not recommended as a target Applies To class for rules you create.

Choosing an Applies To class for rules affecting work items

During the Save As operation, enter a class other than Work- as the Applies To class for a new rule that supports work item processing. Typically, choose a class that is derived from the Work- base class through directed inheritance:

• Choose the container class for a work pool if the rule is to be valid and available for each of the work types in the work pool. (In many cases, the Save As dialog presents the container class as a default choice.)
• Choose a work type if the rule is to be valid and available only for one work type.
