An application profile supports the Direct Capture of Objectives (DCO). It is a collection of business-related information that includes the processes, case types, reports, specifications, participants, collaborators, and actors, which are associated with the implementation of your project. Starting with Pega 7, you create and develop an application profile after you have created the new application using Application Express.
The goal of creating an application profile is to focus discussions and get the project started in the right direction. Business analysts, lead architects, and other project members collaboratively and iteratively create the application profile. This collaborative effort increases the likelihood of a successful implementation because core business questions are asked, discussed, and answers captured in the application profile.
After you have created your application, it usually takes a few days of dedicated effort to build and complete a profile. Then that collection of application information represented in the a profile provides the project with the most relevant information from the start. As the project evolves, you update the profile to reflect the most current development.
You can manage the profile throughout the life of a development project using the following landing pages.
You can document your application profile in a Word file using the Application Document Wizard.
Alternatively, you can create an application profile document using the Document Application > Application Profile option on the Application Overview landing page (Application menu > Open Overview).
