The informal term back-to-back assignments describes the desirable case when a user who completes an assignment for a specific work item is then able to work on a second assignment for the same work item. The second assignment may arise from the same flow execution or a different unrelated flow execution.
When appropriate and feasible, back-to-back assignments are likely to improve user productivity because recent exposure to the work item, its parties, and attachments makes coming up to speed quicker.
Settings on the Action tab of the Flow Action form can increase the likelihood that assignments will be performed back-to-back when possible. For examples and scenarios, see PDN article 26251 When and how to set up "back-to-back" assignments.
