A data mapping is a table or array that associates data fields received from or sent to an external application with properties or other sources or destinations within PRPC. Data mapping is defined in service and connector rule forms.
When a PRPC system interfaces with an external system, information flows in two directions — from PRPC to the external system, and vice versa. At run time, PRPC interprets the data mapping instructions in the rule forms and executes these instructions.
The format, data representation, and packaging of information vary depending on the technology and protocols being used in the interface. However, in all cases two mappings occur during an interchange:
One for the outgoing information call or message
One for the incoming information call or message
