Use Parse XML rules with services and connectors to map data from an XML text message into clipboard property values. Each Parse XML rule contains an array of parsing instructions that let PRPC interpret an incoming XML document or message.

The incoming message may arrive using an email protocol or by SOAP over HTTP protocol. The message may be a request for service or a reply from a connector.

Access

Use the Application Explorer to access parse XML rules that apply to the work types in your application. Use the Records Explorer to list all parse XML rules available to you.

Development

If you have a Document Type Definition (DTD) or XML Schema (XSD) file for the XML documents to be parsed by a Parse XML rule, you can create classes and properties and a starter Parse XML rule corresponding to the XML definition automatically using an accelerator tool. See About the Connector and Metadata accelerator.

Older Parse XML rules

OldParse XML rules created in versions before V5.5 have two tabs not present on the current form. Such rules operate correctly at runtime, but as a best practice, upgrade or replace them with tree-based parse rules. Save the older rule into an open ruleset version and click the Upgrade button on the Mapping tab. For information about the older tabs, see:
