New Application wizard

New Application wizard lets you quickly create an application by filling out fields in four steps. The tool generates an initial layered enterprise class structure and multiple rulesets, based upon the input values you provide and default values entered by the system. You can use New Application wizard to create a new organization-level class layer in which you can build rules for enterprise-wide reuse. With your implementation, you can also generate a framework application and class layer, which provides a reusable foundation that can be specialized by other implementations.

Create a new application

From the Application menu:

1. Select New Application.
2. Click the Create New Application button on the Create New Application page.

You complete the configuration in four steps:

Step 1 Application Settings — Specify the new application, the built-on application, and the organization. Advanced settings available on this step allow you to manually configure or override settings made by the system or entered by you.

Step 2 Business Objectives — Add or modify the business objectives.

Step 3 Case Types — Select case types to import and specialize from a built-on application, or create new ones from a PegaRULES base application.

Step 4 Data Types — Select data types to reuse from a built-on application, or create new ones for a base application. You preview and create the application in this Step.

Navigation

Use the following controls to navigate:

• Click the Next button to advance to the next step.
• Click a Step label on the breadcrumb display to go back.
• Click the Cancel button to discard your configuration and close the tool.

Note: Alternatively, you can create your application by completing the fields on Step 1, skipping to Step 4, and clicking the Create button.

After you create your application

Start building your project in Designer Studio by:

• Using the Application Overview landing page to edit the description, add or edit business objectives, update application details such as actors, specifications, requirements, assumptions, participants, attachments, and invite collaborators, and access utilities that let you create an Application Profile Document, generate a Sizing document, and or package the application. You can return to the landing page by selecting Open Overview on the Application menu.

• Opening the Cases Explorer to review and build out the case type structure. For each case type, capture process steps and related DCO information on the Case Designer landing pages.

• Opening the Data Explorer to create and manage the data types and pages you will use in your application.

• Using the Application Packaging Wizard to export the application as a package, which can be imported into another system for testing or production.
