Rule-from-File wizard Attach file and create the rule

Complete this form to upload a source file from your workstation or network to the Pega server, transform information in the file into a rule, and attach the source file to the rule.
- Click Browse . Navigate in your Windows network to locate the file to be attached.
- Select the file. Click Save .
- Enter in the Description field the value to become the Custom Field value, with no spaces.
- When creating a flow rule, choose
Public Format
, BPEL 1.1
, or Proforma CIF
as appropriate for the File Format value. (The choice Private Format
is reserved).
- Click Submit .
Processing by the wizard
The system creates the rule in the appropriate RuleSet version. It adds the Custom Field name and value to the History tab of the rule, and permanently links the field value to the uploaded file.
- For a decision tree, PRPC opens and parses the TXT file (using the standard activity
Rule-Declare-DecisionTree.doRuleHarvesting
), searching for keywords, tab characters, and property names.
- For a ProVision CIF file, the uploaded file becomes a starting point for the flow rule you are creating.
Next steps
Click () to open the newly created rule. To further evolve the imported rule:
- For a flow rule created from a ProVision CIF file, edit the flow rule in draft mode to provide shape property and other details. Then save the flow and change the Availability to
Yes
.
- For a map value created from an Excel file, follow the steps in About the Rule from File wizard: Harvesting an Excel worksheet to a map value.
- For a decision table, PRPC opens the attached Excel file. You can copy and paste from the Excel format into the leftmost tab of the rule form.
