Reviewing and installing hotfixes

When you select a hotfix to install, Pega 7 displays a warning if the hotfix requires any special handing or schema changes. There are three possible situations:

Schema changes required Installing hotfixes with schema changes
“The hotfix package does not contain all products on the system. Missing products: The hot fix package does not support all the products installed on the system. Contact Pegasystems Global Customer Support before proceeding.

Installing hotfixes that require special handling

To review the special handling instructions for a hotfix, click Requires Special Handling. The Readme file for the hotfix opens. Follow the instructions in the Readme file. Then continue at Installing hotfixes with no additional requirements.

Installing hotfixes with schema changes

If your hotfix includes schema changes, you must specify whether to apply the changes automatically when the hotfix installs or to download the schema changes for your database administrator to apply manually.

Caution: If you roll back a hotfix, included schema changes do not roll back.

Viewing the schema changes

  1. Click Schema Change Details to view the schema changes included in this hotfix.
  2. In the Schema Changes window, select a change row to view the details of the schema change.
  3. Optional: To download the SQL file, click Download SQL DDL. The system saves the file as hotfixSQL.zip. Give the file to your database administrator to apply.
  4. Click Close to return to the warning message.

Automatically applying schema changes

To automatically apply the schema changes when the hotfix installs:

  1. Select Update Automatically.
  2. Continue at Installing hotfixes with no additional requirements

Manually applying schema changes

To download the schema changes for your database administrator to apply:

  1. Select Update Manually.
  2. Click Download SQL DDL. The system saves the fie as hotfixSQL.zip.
  3. Give the hotfixSQL.zip file to your database administrator to apply. After the database administrator is done, return to Hotfix Manager to install the hotfix.

Installing hotfixes with no additional requirements

  1. Review the list of hotfixes.
    1. Click Details to see the changes in each hotfix and to download the Hotfix ReadMe file.
    2. Click Cancel to return to the list of hotfixes.
  2. Optional: Select Commit Hotfixes to commit all hotfixes during the install. If you commit the hotfixes, you cannot roll back later.
  3. Click Install to install all listed hotfixes.
  4. Note whether the system requires a restart.
  5. Click Finish to return to the Hotfix Manager landing page.
  6. If necessary, close Pega 7 and restart the system.
