Case Designer is a tool that visually models stages, steps, and processes for all case types in your application. Use it to design staged-based case types, build user forms, and seamlessly integrate with other elements in your application.
To access Case Designer, open the Case Type Explorer and click any case-type name.
Case Designer loads in the work area of Designer Studio and displays one, stage-based case type at a time. Primary stages are displayed in sequence with alternate stages displayed below them. Steps are displayed within the stage that contains them.
Note: Legacy case types that do not use stages are supported by Case Designer but have fewer options than stage-based case types.
A contextual property panel shows you the behavior that you can configure in your case type, based on the item that has focus. By using the contextual property panel, you can implement broad and granular requirements. For example, you can define different service-level agreements for a step and stage. Additional options for configuring a case type are available on the Settings tab.
Many of the options in Case Designer expose functionality from other parts of the product, such as rule forms, explorers, and wizards. Although the best practice is to build your case type in Case Designer exclusively, advanced users can access some features directly for more complex configurations.
The following features are available within Case Designer and stand-alone:
The Create and Save As forms
Process Modeler
The Case Type rule form
Supporting rule forms, such as Stage, Email, Flow, Case Match, Work Party, Edit Validate, Service-level agreement, and Attachment Category
The Specification rule form and landing page
