Add a single-value field to your data model to store an individual piece of information. You can then reference this field on a form to collect a value from users at run time.
For example, you can define a Phone field type and then add it to a form to prompt users to enter their home telephone number.
Access the data model for a data type or a case type, based on how the field will be used in your application.
In the explorer panel of Designer Studio, click Data to display the Data Explorer.
Click the name of a data type.
Click the Data model tab.
In the explorer panel of Designer Studio, click Cases to display the Case Type Explorer.
Click the name of a case type.
Click the Data model tab.
Optional: To display fields that are inherited by your application, click Show reusable fields.
Click + Add field.
In the Name column, enter a label for the field.
You can modify the identifier that is automatically generated in the ID column.
In the Type column, select an option from the Simple or Fancy category that represents the type of data that is stored in the field.
If you are updating the data model for a case type, click Save.
Note: Some single-value fields, such as picklists, require configuration before they are fully functional. Click the Gear icon to view the available options for a field.
