Use Pulse to communicate and collaborate with other users by sharing messages and files, tagging content, and referencing users. You can use Pulse in various contexts, such as within a case or as a conversation in your user profile, by clicking the Toggle Pulse icon.
You can perform the following tasks:
Use a profile picture of any image type.
Post messages of any length.
Share URLs within the body of a message.
Add a tag within a message by typing # followed by the tag or after a message has been posted by clicking Tags and entering one or more tags.
Reference another user in a message by typing @ followed by the user ID. If your application is configured to send emails, you can receive emails when another user references you, posts on your profile, or posts comments on a conversation in which you are involved.
For more information on selecting when you want to receive email and web gadget notifications, see Setting notification preferences.
Share files. When you attach a file to a message within a case, the file is automatically associated with the case.
Continue a discussion that was initiated by email.
When you reply to a message that is denoted by the Email icon, your post and attachment that you provide are added to Pulse and also sent to the relevant user in an email message.
You can view the activity feed by using the Pulse activity feed widget or by clicking the Toggle Pulse icon.
The activity feed displays:
Messages posted on your user profile.
Messages on cases you are following.
Replies to messages you have posted.
Messages in which you are referenced.
Messages made by users that you are following.
You cannot post new messages in the activity feed but can post comments and tags. Comments and tags appear in the activity feed in addition to the context in which you made them. For example, if you add a comment for New Hire case in the activity feed, the comment also appears in the New Hire case.
Search for content in Pulse in a case, which includes information in Pulse posts and the content in attachments. Type the text for which to search in the search field and then click the link in the Social/Posts found field in the search results dialog box.
You can reply to email notifications with one attachment or with text, which is posted as a reply to the original message.
The subject of Pulse notification emails contains the post ID in square brackets (for example, [M-948]). Do not remove this information when you reply to the email; otherwise, the message does not post.
Additional limitations apply when you use Pulse to continue a discussion that was initiated by email.
