Creating a new component

A component is a collection of rulesets that create a small feature that can be added to any application created in the Pega Platform.

Follow these steps to add a component to an application:

  1. Click Designer Studio > Application > Components .
  2. Click New component.
  3. In the Label field, enter the name of the component. This label becomes the name of the component.
  4. Optional: To update the automatically-generated component name, click Edit.
  5. Enter the version number.
  6. Click Create and open.

    The component ruleset name includes the first 13 characters of the component name and the creation time stamp. The ID also includes the version number.

  7. Enter a short description.
  8. Optional: Update the Publisher. The default value is the organization for the current logged-in user.
  9. Optional: Update the Component rulesets. Change the default ruleset or add rulesets to the component.
  10. Optional: List required Prerequisites for this component. Prerequisites can include either applications or components.
  11. Click Save.
