Creating a web service policy data instance

Create a web service policy (WS-Policy) data instance to allow a SOAP connector to securely communicate with an annotated web service.

1. In the Dev Studio header, click Create > Integration-Resources > Web Service Policy.
2. Enter a short description and web service policy name for this data instance.
   The name is arbitrary and is used only to distinguish instances from one another. Begin the name with a letter, and use only alphanumeric characters.
3. Click Create and open.
4. In the Service section, attach the policy xml attached to the binding element in the WSDL. A policy attached to the binding element of the endpoint policy subject is placed in the service policy section of the source view tab. There are two views for the service.
   • Source View – The text form of the policy document. You can directly edit the text. Click Generate/Update Design View to produce a Design View of the current policy document.
   • Design View – A graphical tree view of the policy XML document. You can edit the fields in the display to enter configuration information. Click Update Source View to write the changes you have made in the Design View into the policy XML document.
5. In the Input Message section, attach the policy xml attached to the input element of the endpoint policy subject in the WSDL.
   Use the Source View and Design View panes as described above for the Service section.
6. In the Output Message section, attach the policy xml attached to the output element of the endpoint policy subject in the WSDL.
   Use the Source View and Design View panes as described above for the Service section.
7. Click Keystore to go to the Keystore tab.
8. In the Keystore field, select the keystore data instance to use with this policy. See Keystores.
   Leave the Truststore field blank. This field is not used for WS-Policy implementations. (It is used for SSL.)
9. Click Save.
