Configuring the Real Time Data Grid service
You can visualize and monitor business data by using the VBD planner in the Real Time Data Grid service. To configure the infrastructure for this service, you add one or more decision data nodes.
- In the header of Dev Studio, click Configure > Decisioning > Infrastructure > Services > Real Time Data Grid.

Add a node:
- Click Add node.
- Select the check box for the decision data node that you want to add. You can add multiple nodes at once.
- Click Submit.
- Refresh the landing page until the status of the node changes to NORMAL.
Note: You need at least one decision data store node to run the Real Time Data Grid service. If you add a Real Time Data Grid node and no nodes are on the Decision Data Store tab of the Services landing page, a node is automatically added on that tab to support running the Real Time Data Grid service. - Optional:
Edit the service settings:
- Click Edit settings.

Configure the following settings:
- Cluster port – The VBD node cluster port.
- Cluster port auto increment – The option to try the next free cluster port when the provided one is not available.
- Actuals memory – The amount of memory allocated to the service operations. The default amount is 1,024 MB.
- Actuals fetch size – The number of Interaction History records fetched. The default actuals fetch size is 1,000.
- Planner poll interval (seconds) – The frequency for querying the server for new data. The default frequency is 10 seconds.
- Planner query timeout (ms) – The time before a query for new data times out. The default query timeout is 10,000 milliseconds.

Planner client mode – The mode in which the VBD planner is
displayed.
- AUTO – This is the default setting. In the AUTO setting, the VBD planner runs in HTML5 mode for all Pega-supported browsers. For the browsers that are not supported by Pega Platform, the VBD planner runs as an applet.
- HTML5 – In the HTML5 setting, the VBD planner is displayed in the HTML5 mode for all browsers.

APPLET – In the APPLET setting, the VBD planner is
displayed as an applet for all browsers. Note: Use the APPLET setting only for troubleshooting purposes. The applet version of the VBD planner is unavailable in browsers that do not support Java applets.
- Optional: Display the details for a node by clicking the row for that. You can view information about the node ID, total memory used, and records in the VBD data sets.
- Optional: Manage a node by selecting an action from the Execute menu.
