Configuring the Facebook app

To create a Facebook channel to use as Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant (IVA for Facebook, configure your Facebook Messenger app to interact with the IVA.

Before you begin: Add a new Facebook app to your Facebook account. For more information, see Creating a Facebook page.
  1. In a web browser, log in to the Facebook developer portal.
  2. Select your new Facebook Messenger app.
  3. In the PRODUCTS section for the app, click Webhooks, and then click Edit Subscription.
  4. In the Callback URL field, enter the URL for your Pega Platform instance with your new Facebook channel.
    For example: Enter: http://sample.pega.com:8080/prweb/PRHTTPService/channel/srv/fb
  5. In the Verify Token field, enter: pega
  6. Click Verify and Save.
  7. In the PRODUCTS section for the app, click Messenger, and then click Settings.
  8. In the Webhooks section, click Edit Events.
  9. Select the messages, messaging_postbacks, and messaging_account_linking check boxes.
  10. Click Save.
  11. To subscribe your webhook to the page events, in the list in the Webhooks section, click the new Facebook page, and then click Subscribe.
