Connecting a flow to an external application
You can use the Integrator shape in a flow to send or receive data from an external application. By integrating external applications with your process, you can add more functionality to your application.
For example, you can connect to a customer database to retrieve account balances or verify account numbers and status.
- Open a flow by searching for it or by using the Application Explorer.
-
On the Diagram tab, click the Flow shapes icon, and then click Advanced > Integrator.
-
Drag the Utility shape to a position on the flow diagram, based on the order of events in the flow.
-
Connect the Utility shape, by dragging connector end points to connection points on different shapes in the flow.
-
Double-click the Integrator shape to open the property panel.
- In the Select type of rule field, select Activity.
-
In the Rule field, press the Down Arrow key, and select the name of an activity with Activity type set to Rule Connect.
Tip: You can map information to and from the external application by updating the request and response data transforms that were generated when you created the connector. -
Click Submit to close the property panel.
-
Click Save.
