Improving performance by archiving cases

Updated on August 25, 2021

Enable case archiving for Pega Cloud to move inactive cases to secondary storage. By periodically purging entries from your database, you can improve application performance and support long-term data retention. Routine case archivals improve search and reporting, increase performance for database queries, shorten database maintenance cycles, reduce primary database costs, and grant better compliance with government compliance policies like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Before you begin: In Pega Platform version 8.5 and 8.6, archiving cases to secondary storage is limited to only Pega Cloud environments. To archive cases in an on-premise environment, upgrade to 8.7 or later. For more information, see Archiving and expunging case data.
