Node types for client-managed cloud environments

When you deploy Pega Platform using Kubernetes, you deploy several tiers with the following node type assignments. You can associate these node types with resources in order to optimize performance.

Pega-provided node types

You can associate the following node types with resources to segregate work in your Pega application:

  • The “batch” tiers are assigned with the BackgroundProcessing node type to perform background utility processing.
  • The “search” tiers are assigned with the Search node type to performs search indexing using Elasticsearch.
  • The “stream” tiers are assigned with the Stream node type to perform Kafka-based stream processing for Queue Processors in any Pega application, as well as for Pega Marketing and Pega DSM subscriptions.
  • The “web” tiers are assigned with the WebUser node type to perform web application processing.
