Automatically populating new columns in existing tables

Updated on July 8, 2022

If an import adds columns to existing tables, use advanced mode to automatically expose and populate the new columns after the import.

Before you begin:
  • Before starting, you must complete this task: Viewing and applying schema changes
  • To automatically populate columns after import, your access group must have the SchemaPropertyOptimization privilege.

Automatically populating new columns is a best practice. Otherwise, your reports may be inaccurate until you run the Column Population tool.

Note: You see this screen only if your archive includes new columns in existing tables and you are in advanced mode.
  1. Review the mapping of class names to property names.
  2. Specify whether to automatically populate the new columns:
    • As a best practice, check Automatically populate columns after import.
    • To manually populate the columns after the import, clear Automatically populate columns after import.
Note: After the import completes, run the Column Populator tool to populate the new columns.
  3. Click Next.
