Defragmenting tables

Updated on July 8, 2022

You can defragment a database table using Schema Tools. Defragmentation optimizes space used by the Pega Platform internal database tables to improve performance.

Before you begin: You must have the PegaRULES:DatabaseAdministrator role to access Schema Tools. For more information, see Adding a role to an access group.
Note: Pega Cloud Services provides Query Runner, Query Inspector, and Schema Tools in Pega Platform for clients to manage their database. These database tools are not available to on-premises clients.

This operation can take some time to complete. After initiating an operation, you can view progress and verify completion by refreshing the landing page and clicking the History tab for the table.

  1. In the header of Dev Studio, click ConfigureSystemDatabaseSchema Tools.
  2. Select the table that you want to defragment.
  3. Click Defragment table in the right pane.
  4. Click Yes.
