Enabling and disabling encryption for communication among search nodes

Updated on July 8, 2022
Applicable to deployments with embedded Elasticsearch.

For on-premises deployments, enable encryption for communication among search nodes to prevent unauthorized access to the data that is transported across search nodes. By default, search is encrypted for cloud services and applications.

Before you begin: To access the Search landing page, you must have the pxAccessSearchLP privilege, which is included in the PegaRULES:SysAdm4 role.

When you enable or disable encryption, all nodes in the cluster are reinitialized, which might take some time.

Note: Enabling encryption can impact system performance.
  1. In the header of Dev Studio, click ConfigureSystemSettingsSearch.
  2. Expand the Security settings section.
  3. Select or clear Encrypt search inter-node communication.
