Rebuilding search indexes

Updated on July 8, 2022
Applicable to deployments with embedded Elasticsearch.

You can rebuild default or dedicated search indexes if they become corrupted or if they were accidentally deleted. Custom search indexes cannot be deleted from Dev Studio.

Reindexing can take some time. You can view progress on the Queue Processor landing page. Additional details and progress messages also appear in the system console log.

You can rebuild search indexes interactively, or you can rebuild them by using a script that uses a direct connection to the database. For more information, see Rebuilding search indexes by using a direct connection to the database

For more information on rebuilding search indexes interactively, see Rebuilding search indexes from the user interface.

Note: You can improve the system performance during reindexing by managing the value of the indexing/distributed/queue/maxrecords dynamic system setting. The setting indicates the maximum number of records to process from the queue in one invocation by the incremental indexing agent.
