Viewing database trace results in Excel

Updated on July 8, 2022

The Database Trace tool produces a text file containing the SQL statements, rule cache hit statistics, timings, and other data that reflect your requestor session's interactions with the Pega Platform database or other relational databases. You can export this file to Microsoft Excel to view the results.

Before you begin: Run the database tracer. For more information, see Starting a database trace.
  1. Click the Click to Stop icon (red square) to end tracing and close the text file.
  2. Click the Download this file icon to save the text file on your workstation or a shared drive.
  3. Open a new Excel worksheet.
  4. Within Excel, click FileOpen. Ensure that the file type is set to "Text Files" and then navigate to the saved text file. Excel automatically determines that the file is delimited; respond to prompts by selecting the "tab" delimiter type and desired column format. Results from the text file are formatted and imported to the worksheet.
