Training Question of the Week for February 25th, 2008

Updated on September 10, 2021

Question
I have an organizational hierarchy that consists of more than 3 levels. It currently has 5 levels and we will be adding another level in the future. How do I create additional data objects in PRPC to support this? PRPC offers only 3 levels.

Answer by Steve Youles
The organizational hierarchy in Pega was never intended to mirror the actual organization. It is intended to support rudimentary routing and security elements rather than become the de facto organizational hierarchy tool. PRPC can retrieve routing addresses and other information from external tools (such as LDAP) whose purpose is to manage ever expanding hierarchies.

The organizational hierarchy and related topics are discussed to varying degrees in many courses offered by Pega Education. You can also get more information about hierarchies in the PDN Knowledgebase article 19976.
