Advanced Controls

Updated on April 5, 2022

  • Selecting the property reference for a control

Select a property for the control to determine the data type to include in the list that an application user sees. At run time, the user selects one or more values from the list.

  • Automating source synchronization in controls

Improve the maintainability of your application by defining sources for the values that populate user interface controls. When you tie a control to a list source, the values in the control change automatically to reflect the state of the source, which saves development time.

  • Specifying presentation options for a control

After you create a control, you configure how the control is displayed. You can specify whether the control is editable at run time, the width of the control, the label format for the control, and one or more CSS helper classes to adjust the control's appearance and placement.

  • Adding an Address Map control

You can add the pxAddressMap control to a cell, enabling users to view and interact with location points in Google Maps from within a desktop or mobile app. This control is responsive when added to a dynamic layout, and you can configure events on the control, such as displaying location details. It can also be added to a smart layout or to a sect

  • Attach Content control

Enable application users to attach files to a desktop, mobile, or an offline-enabled application by adding the Attach content control (pxAttachContent).

  • Adding an Anypicker control

Enhance navigation in your application by grouping drop-down list items into expandable categories in the Anypicker control. For example, if your business operates in several cities, use this control to group business locations by region and to help your users quickly select the right option in a drop-down list.

  • Adding an Autocomplete control

Use an Autocomplete control to allow the user to select a value from a possibly large set of searched text values, based on a partial string match. Pega Platform dynamically assembles and displays a list of candidate matching values after the user types one or a few characters of input.

  • Adding a chart

You can add a static or interactive chart to a cell on a harness, section, or flow action form.

  • Adding a Checkbox control

Check boxes present a user with an option or a list of options, from which the user can make a single selection. A cell in a layout can present a property as a TrueFalse type using a Checkbox( pxCheckbox ) control.

  • Adding a Currency control

A currency control is a purpose-specific control. It has properties that let you define its exact presentation behavior to support one or several currencies.

  • Adding a Data Field for a composite application

When you build a Pega composite application with Internet Application Composer, you embed the application on an external Web page as a gadget in a <DIV > element. A Data Field is an invisible field that makes the value of a scalar, single-value property from the composite application available to the external page.

  • Dropdown control

Use the Dropdown control to display a list of options, from which the user can select a single option. The list of options can be defined in a list bound to a property, or a clipboard page, a data page, or a report definition.

  • Adding a Text control

To help users understand the structure of a layout and get a general idea what the content groupings within the layout include, describe the content and the purpose of layout elements by including formatted text in cells and headers in a layout.

  • Adding an Integer Control

Harness and section forms - Adding an Integer control

  • Adding the Map control

Add a Map control (the pyTrackingMap rule) to a cell to view markers, static user locations, and case-related markers that can represent job locations and tracks of users of offline-enabled mobile apps.

  • Configuring a text label in a layout cell or header

A cell on the layout can present formatted text, which may include the results of JSP tags or directives. Follow these instructions to control the presentation of the label. Labels can also appear in headers.

  • Displaying location as static map image

Harness and Section forms - displaying location as a static map image

  • Adding paragraphs to place rich text in a layout cell or header

By referencing a paragraph rule ( Rule-HTML-Paragraph rule type), a cell in the layout can present rich text, which can include the results of JSP tags and stream processing. Unlike a label, display text in a paragraph can be longer than 64 characters. (You can add paragraphs to headers as well as to cells.)

  • purpose-specific fields

Purpose-specific controls provide the optimal formatting for displaying particular types of data such as currency, date, decimal numbers, and so on.

  • Radio Button control

In your application, radio button controls present a horizontal or vertical list of options, from which a user can select a single option.

  • Adding a Signature capture control

You can add the Signature capture control to a cell, enabling users to capture a user signature, either through a mouse input or through a touch interaction on a mobile device. This control works when used in the context of a work object. Interacting with this control in an application occurs by displaying a field inline where a signature can be s

  • Adding a Tooltip

Harness and Section forms - Adding a Tooltip

  • Adding a Text area control

A text area is an area in which the user types or pastes one or multiple lines of text, without formatting the text.

  • Adding a Text input control

A cell in a layout can present the value of a property, as display-only or as an input field. Follow these instructions to control the presentation of a property value in a Text input control.

  • Adding a video to a section

You can add a video to your section to provide an interactive user experience.
