Chart control - Axis tab for a column chart

Set display options for a chart's X and Y axis on the Axis tab of the chart control's Cell Properties panel.

Set display options for the X-axis

You can set the following display options for the X, or horizontal, axis of the chart:

  • Axis label – Provide a name for the X-axis.
  • Label format – Select one of the options provided. Depending on which you choose, further fields may appear:
    • None, Email, Phone, or URL – No further fields appear.
    • Text – Include a text string to appear before and after the label:
      • Auto prepend – Enter a value to display before the label.
      • Auto append – Enter a value to display after the label.
  • Grid labels – Select the check box to display grid labels, and then set the Orientation for the labels.
  • Visibility – Clear the check box to hide the X-axis.
  • Color – Select a color for the X-axis.

Set display options for the Y-axis

You can set the following display options for the Y, or vertical, axis of the chart:

  • Axis label – Provide a name for the Y-axis.
  • Min value – Provide the minimum value for the Y-axis.
  • Max value – Provide the maximum value for the Y-axis.
  • Decimals – Select Auto to have the system select the number of decimal places to appear, or select the number of decimal places you want to appear.
  • Numeric Symbol – Select an option:
    • None – No further fields appear.
    • Currency – Select Local currency, which defaults to the system settings, or Other currency and, in the field that appears, select the property that holds the symbol for that currency. Specify whether the currency symbol appears to the left or right of the value. In the Display currency as field, select to display the currency symbol, the country code for the currency, or the currency name.
    • Constant – In the Symbol value field, provide the constant for the currency symbol. Specify whether the symbol appears to the left or right of the value.
    • Reference – In the Symbol reference field, select the property that holds the currency symbol. Specify whether the symbol appears to the left or right of the value.
  • Separators – Select the check box to have appropriate separators (typically , or .) appear to divide millions, thousands, and so on.
  • Grid lines – Select the check box to show grid lines on the chart.
  • Grid labels – Select the check box to show labels for the grid lines.
  • Visibility – Clear the check box to hide the Y-axis.
  • Color – Select a color for the Y-axis.
