Modifying the number of items in the recent items list

Updated on April 5, 2022

By default, the recent items list displays the 20 most recently accessed items. You can customize the recent items list and modify the number of items that it displays.

Before you can customize the number of items in the recent items list, complete the steps in Customizing the list of recent items in your application..

  1. Open your copy of the pxRecentGrid section.

    1. In your section that displays the recent items list, click the View properties icon of the cell contained in the section to open the Cell Properties panel.

    2. On the General tab, click the Open icon next to the section name to open your copy of pxRecent section.

    3. In your copy of the pxRecent section, click the Gear icon in the Section include header of your copy of pxRecentGrid section to open the Layout Properties panel.

    4. On the General tab, click the Open icon next to the section name to open your copy of pxRecentGrid section.

  2. In the copy of pxRecentGrid section, click the Gear icon in the Table layout header to open the Layout Properties panel.

  3. In the Pagination section on the General tab of the Layout Properties panel, specify the number of items that you want to display in the recent items list in the Page size (number of rows) field. The recent items list displays the number of items up to this specified value.

  4. Click Submit, and then click Save.

As a best practice, ensure that the number that you specify as the Page size (number of rows) on the General tab of the recent item grid is the same number that is specified in the Maximum Documents field of the dynamic container used in the portal. A dynamic system setting, Pega-UIEngine.pyMaxrecentrecords, controls the maximum number of items tracked per user. The default maximum is 30 items per user. The page size that you specify must be less than or equal to the dynamic system setting value.

You can display a list of the most recently accessed cases, rule or data instance records, Create New and Save As forms, landing pages, wizard items, and instance lists in your application. Displaying a list of recent items gives your application users a quick way to view and open recent items.

Help users access and compare data with table layouts. Use tables in your applications as a flexible basis for users to process large amounts of information. For example, tables in a price comparison application can help users efficiently identify the best offer.

  • Configuring dynamic system settings

As a best practice, set system configuration settings by using dynamic system settings data instances. For example, you can use a dynamic system settings to configure which fields are available in full-text search. Dynamic system settings are stored in the Pega Platform database and are used by all nodes that share that database.
