Selecting application rulesets

Updated on April 5, 2022

Specify one or more unlocked application rulesets and versions that contain field value rules that you want to translate. The field value rules are used to display application elements such as user forms and portal displays.

The wizard adds rules from the standard user interface rulesets to the TextToTranslate.xml file.

Caution: Do not use a language-specific ruleset (the ruleset name contains an underscore and a locale setting). For example, if a ruleset was originally in English, do not select one that is localized for French.
  1. Optional:

To include only the rulesets for Pega Platform and not from your application, clear the Include application layer ruleset check box.

  2. Click the Expand icon to view the ruleset lists.

  3. Optional:

Clear the check box next to each ruleset to exclude it from the application layer.

If you clear the check box, the translation package does not include text strings that are used by rules in these rulesets.

  4. Select the Include all PegaRULES application rulesets check box to include the Pega translation and export for custom translation.

When you select this check box, the list of languages and an indicator about language pack availability are displayed. A value of YES for Language Pack Available? means that the language pack was not installed when you began the localization process but it was acquired and installed since then. A value of NO means that there is no language pack available.

    • If a language pack is not available, select the Include Pega translation and export for custom translation check box.
    • If a language pack is available on your system but you want to override the Pega-supplied translations, select the Override Pega translation and export for custom translation check box. If this check box is cleared, the Pega-supplied translations are not exported for retranslation.
  5. To export translations from rulesets that are not part of the current application stack, select the Include field value from other rulesets check box.

  6. Optional:

To include existing base field values from other rulesets, in the Ruleset section, click the Add Row icon and enter one or more rulesets.

  7. Click Next.

  • Selecting languages

To start the localization process, open the localization wizard and specify one or more languages in which to translate your application. A separate translation package is created for each language.

  • Enabling records

If your original installation of Pega Platform was before Pega 7 and you have never translated it, you can enable the Localize setting for each record in an unlocked ruleset so that the rule can be translated. Although records in Pega Platform are set by default to be translatable, older rules might not be.

  • Localization wizard

Use the Localization wizard to make an application available in additional languages. The wizard automates many of the steps necessary to create language-specific rulesets.
