Selecting a control mode (editable, read-only)

Updated on April 5, 2022

When you create a new control, you configure how the control can be edited.

  1. On the Control tab of the Control form, select one of the following Control Modes options:
    • Editable/Read-Only – Select this option to configure the associated property for both edit and read-only modes. You can configure user interface elements such as Text Input controls or Address Map controls.
    • Read-Only – Select this option to make the control display as non-editable text. The Editable column does not appear.
    • Action – Select this option to set the UI Element to one of the following settings:
      • Button
      • Icon
      • Link

Only one column of settings appears, which applies to both editable and read-only control modes as defined in other parameter settings in this form.

The Control Modes field is not displayed in the Parameters dialog box when you customize the control in a section.

  • Custom controls
  • Controls form Completing the Controls tab

Pega Platform includes a set of standard auto-generated controls. As a best practice, use these controls to save development time and ensure consistency. By default, this tab is displayed when you open an auto-generated control or open a New rule.

  • Controls

Use control rules to determine the appearance of a single property, such as a button or drop-down field, on a form.
