Conditionally display a supporting process
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can now define a condition that causes a case to display a supporting process for the case type or for a stage in the case type. When the condition evaluates to false, the case does not list the process. Supporting processes require additional processing, and by skipping the processes that are not relevant, you can help users resolve cases more quickly.
For more information, see:
- App Studio – Conditionally displaying a supporting process
- Dev Studio – Conditionally displaying a supporting process
Send email notifications for goals and deadlines
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can now configure an assignment or approval in a case type to send email notifications to the users associated with the case when the goals and deadlines are not met. You can create the subject and content for the notification message. The system sends email notifications when the suggested and required completion times for an assignment or approval elapse. By notifying relevant users about goals and deadlines, you can ensure that service-level agreements are strictly enforced during case processing.
For more information, see:
- App Studio – Setting goals and deadlines for task completion
- Dev Studio – Setting goals and deadlines for task completion
Search added for case data
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can enable search for individual case types. When search is enabled for a case type, all text in the case data is searched, making it easy for your application users to find work items.
For information about enabling search for a case type, see Including indexed data during case search.
Apache Ignite is no longer supported
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
Apache Ignite is no longer supported and has been replaced by Hazelcast Enterprise Edition 3.10 in embedded mode. If you used encryption with Apache Ignite, you can configure encryption on Hazelcast Enterprise Edition in the same way that you configured it for Apache Ignite.
For more information about encrypting nodes, see Enabling encrypted communication between nodes.
Automatically populate columns on import
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
If an imported archive file adds columns to existing tables, Pega Platform ™ can automatically expose and populate the new columns during the import. For more information, see Import wizard.
Automatically revalidate and save classes after upgrade
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
To automatically revalidate and save classes after an upgrade, edit the product rule definition. After you upgrade the application, the classes you specify are revalidated and saved under the application version context you provide. If the application version exists on the target system before the upgrade, the revalidate and save process is not called.
For more information about editing the product rule, see Specifying product rule deployment options.
Add and populate new indexes on import
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
If you import an archive that includes new indexes, use the Import wizard advanced mode to schedule a post-import job to automatically add and populate the new indexes. For more information, see Import wizard.
Multi-answer questions available for surveys
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
Pega Platform™ now supports multi-answer questions for all types of surveys. You can use multi-answer questions to collect multiple answers from users. For example, you can ask users to list all the languages that they speak by selecting multiple check boxes.
For more information, see Designing a survey.
Enhanced Pulse performance and layout on mobile devices
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
Pulse performance is now faster on mobile devices. The user interface has been enhanced to enable better collaboration among users. The new Pulse mobile layout provides a better user experience for posting messages, adding attachments, bookmarking content, and so on.

- App Studio – Communicating with users by using Pulse
- Dev Studio – Communicating with users by using Pulse
Archival support added to cases in Pega Cloud
Valid from Pega Version 8.1
You can now create an archival policy to move inactive cases from Pega Cloud to secondary storage. By periodically purging entries from your database, you can improve application performance.
For more information, see Case archiving.
