Reusable components in a case life cycle

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

You can easily add an existing process or user action to the life cycle of a case type. By reusing functionality in your application, you can reduce the time that it takes to configure a case type.

For more information, see Steps in the life cycle of a case.

Create and edit reports

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

In Pega Express, you can now create and edit reports for the case types in your application. You can use the new reporting features to modify the way information is displayed in a report and to sort and filter the data for different audiences.

For more information, see Creating reports and Editing reports.

Import specifications

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

In Pega Express, you can now import specifications from an Excel spreadsheet. Keeping specifications up-to-date helps you to generate a meaningful application profile document to share information about your project with stakeholders.

For more information, see Importing specifications.

Create and associate specifications in Case Designer

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

You can now create and associate specifications with steps and user forms when you design a case in Case Designer. You can reuse the specifications in the current case and other case types. By defining specifications, you can generate a more meaningful application profile document.

For more information, see Associating a specification with a step, Associating a specification with a user form, and Enhancements to the Direct Capture of Objectives.

Generate an application profile document

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

In Pega Express, you can now generate an application profile document to share information about your project with stakeholders. An application profile document contains business-related information that is associated with the implementation of a project, such as sizing estimates.

For more information, see Generating an application profile document and Enhancements to the Direct Capture of Objectives.

New mobile capabilities in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

In Pega Express, you can now configure offline case types and quickly build a custom mobile app from the Mobile app tab in the settings. You can apply branding, use certificates, and take advantage of device capabilities such as geolocation tracking. If you set up signing certificates (Android, iOS) and provisioning profiles (iOS) for the custom mobile app in the Designer Studio, you can also access them in Pega Express.

For more information, see Building mobile apps.

Enhanced data modeling

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

You can now create data types quickly in Pega Express. Use the enhanced Data Designer user interface to define the data model for your data types. More field types have been added, and they are categorized as simple, fancy, and complex to meet your data modeling needs.

For more information, see Data Designer enhancements.

Deprecated support for Pega Platform deployments on embedded Cassandra

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

If you use Pega Platform™ decision management capabilities, Pega Platform uses Cassandra as the underlying storage system for the Decision Data Store (DDS), which manages the Cassandra cluster and stores decision management data in a Cassandra database. Future versions of Pega Platform will no longer support deployments on embedded Cassandra. In Pega Platform version 8.6, deployments using embedded Cassandra are deprecated but still work. To ensure future compatibility, do not create any new installations using embedded Cassandra.

For information about how to configure Pega Platform to access an external database, see Defining Pega Platform access to an external Cassandra database.
