Editable list of build-on application features

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Pega Platform™ now provides you with an option to edit the list of features in your application stack. Now you can define the order of the features to generate application documentation that lists the features by their priorities instead of the time of creation. For example, you can reorder the features when you want to communicate to your stakeholders which elements are top priorities.

For more information, see Learning about feature order.

Specify the scope for rolling back rules and data to a restore point

Valid from Pega Version 8.4

Create restore points to save the state of all rules and data in your system at a significant point in time, for example, before you import an application. Roll back to that restore point to return the system to that state. Now, you can filter which rule and data instances are returned to their previous state:

  • System: Roll back every rule and data instance that has a history record.
  • User: Roll back rule and data instances modified by a specific user. If any rule was changed by more than one user, you will see an error message and must use the system rollback.
  • Application: Roll back rule and data instances in a specific application.

For more information, see Using restore points to enable error recovery.

Case-insensitive filtering in reports

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

Filtering in reports is now case-insensitive, improving the reporting and searching experience. You can turn off case-insensitive filtering, for example, by using an activity. You might want to do this if your index is too big or if the length of time it takes for indexing impacts performance.

For more information on report filtering, see Editing filter conditions.

Add subspaces within spaces

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

You can now create subspaces within spaces. By adding a subspace, you can collaborate on a subtopic that is related to the topic of the parent space. For example, you can create an Annual Day subspace within the Events space.

For more information, see Creating a subspace.

Improve clipboard performance for Service REST

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

Improve clipboard performance in Service REST processing by using the new Lightweight clipboard mode option. This mode does not support all clipboard features.

For a list of supported and unsupported features, see Service REST form - Completing the Service tab.

Improved search indexing performance

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

Search indexing now uses a queue processor to improve indexing performance. Indexing can automatically restart if the database goes down temporarily. This saves time and manual action. As a result of using the queue processor for indexing, the following changes have been made to the Search Landing page.

  • You cannot cancel indexing from the Search landing page. Cancel indexing by stopping the queue processor from the Data flow landing page.
  • The progress message is not shown. View progress on the Queue Processor landing page.
  • Queue processor information has been added.

For more information, see Stopping or pausing search reindexing.

Support for large binary data item storage in Pega Client for Windows

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

Pega Client for Windows can now store and synchronize large binary data items and their corresponding actions from the action queue. As a result, offline-enabled application users can view, attach, and delete data files from within a case view, whether the Windows-based device is online or offline. To use this feature, enable offline case attachment support, which allows offline-enabled applications to synchronize case attachments between Pega Platform™ and the device.

For more information, see Attach content support in offline mode and Enabling offline case attachments support.

More visibility of your production level

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

You can now see the production level of your environment in a new gadget that is available in all Pega Platform™ workspaces. To ensure that you immediately recognize your current environment, you can give it a unique name that is displayed when you click the gadget. In addition to specifying your production level and environment name on the System form in Dev Studio, you can now specify those values on the System & nodes page in Admin Studio.

For more information on Admin Studio, see Modifying your environment name and production level.

For more information on Dev Studio, see Specifying the production level.

Visualize application layers for case processes and sections

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

In App Studio, you can now easily visualize the application layers for case processes and sections, including work areas and views. When you click the Discover gadget for a case process or section, you are shown a visual representation of the application layers. You can open a layer in Dev Studio to see the rulesets and other attributes of an application.

For more information, see Discover gadget.

More display options for charts

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

Display properties have been expanded for charts that you add to a report harness or section. In addition to setting general display properties, you can set visibility and color options, control hover highlight behavior for data points and legends, and define more presentation options for grids and tooltips. The additional presentation options enhance your chart design and provide a way for you to effectively highlight important data.

For more information about configuring charts, see Harness and section forms - Adding a chart.
