Deprecation of override rulesets in run-time ruleset lists

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

Pega 7.2.1 is the last release where override rulesets can be incorporated in the run-time ruleset list. The ability to create override rulesets was originally deprecated in Pega 7.1. However, any override rulesets that were created in releases prior to Pega 7.1 in the application ruleset lists were still incorporated into the run-time ruleset lists at the appropriate location. In releases after Pega 7.2.1, override rulesets will be ignored and will not be incorporated in the run-time ruleset list. Therefore, it is recommended that you use production rulesets in access groups instead of override rulesets.

Usability improvements in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

The following enhancements have been made in Pega Express to improve your development experience:

  • Case Designer now has an option to create a case so that you can quickly test changes to the configuration of your case types.
  • There are fewer steps in the process for configuring a dynamic view.
  • Some controls on the screen have been repositioned for easier access and support for users who are not using a mouse.
  • Some elements on the Life cycle tab of Case Designer support keyboard navigation when you use the Tab, Enter, Right Arrow, or Left Arrow keys.
  • The status of a case can be set at the assignment level.

For more information about these changes, see:

Pega Express application views simplify portal creation

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

Pega Express application views offer a simple, intuitive authoring experience for portals. Application view templates support responsive application development and offer mobile-specific templates. You can create portals by selecting from a predefined set of application view templates.

For more information, see Application views.

DocuSign integration

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

You can now integrate DocuSign with your Pega 7 Platform application to collect digital signatures during case processing. You can make a signature request to DocuSign by adding the Send via DocuSign smart shape to your flow. You can customize your request by overriding the data transforms that are used to make a successful signature request to DocuSign.

For more information, see Integrating DocuSign with the Pega Platform.

Security fields in JFrog Artifactory repository rule form removed

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The fields in the Security section of the JFrog Artifactory repository rule form, including the Secure protocol field, the Truststore field, and the Keystore field, were not functional in Pega Platform™ 7.3, 7.3.1, and 7.4. This section has been removed from the JFrog Artifactory repository rule form in Pega Platform 8.1.

Unicode-enabled database for international language support

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

The Pega 7 Platform database has been enhanced to natively support Unicode multibyte character set encoding when using Postgres on Pega Cloud. This enhancement allows you to store data in languages such as Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.

@java and locatable pages no longer supported

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

@java and locatable pages are no longer supported. Existing rules that use @java and locatable pages will continue to work; however, changes to these rules cannot be saved unless @java and locatable pages are replaced by supported functionality. Use a rule utility function (RUF) instead of an @java page, and use a data page instead of a locatable page. In addition, Pega Platform™ displays a guardrail warning when you open a rule that uses an @java page or a locatable page.

MBean Javadocs download file

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

The Pega 7 Platform MBean Javadocs are no longer provided in the distribution image; however, you can download the MBeanJMXJavadoc.zip file that was previously provided in the distribution image.

You can also use JConsole, which is included with the Java Development Kit (JDK), to obtain MBean information. The JConsole MBean tab provides attributes, operations, notifications, and other information on all the MBeans that are registered with the MBean server.

Troubleshooting offline-enabled applications in a browser

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now troubleshoot offline-enabled applications by using the Tracer tool and developer tools that are available in a web browser. You can troubleshoot scripts that are running when the application is running, without having to use additional debugging tools.

For more information, see Application debugging using the Tracer tool, Troubleshooting offline-enabled applications with the Tracer tool in a browser, and Offline capability.
