New process for Pega Cloud customers to obtain BIX extract files

The process for obtaining Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) extract and manifest files for Pega^® Cloud customers has changed as a result of data security enhancements for HIPAA compliance. By default, after upgrading to Pega 7.3, you must obtain the BIX extract and manifest files from the Pega SFTP server. From within Designer Studio, you can configure the BIX extract and manifest files to be sent to a remote SFTP server by a file listener. For Pega Cloud customers who have purchased a Pega Cloud SFTP Server subscription, you can configure BIX to send the BIX extract and manifest files to the SFTP server's folders for remote SFTP client download.

The Scratch Pad tool is no longer available

The Scratch Pad tool is no longer available. To add properties to a report from an end user portal, use the Data Explorer. The Data Explorer provides an efficient way to find a property or calculation to include as a column in a report.

Custom scaling on x-axis for bubble charts

Bubble charts now support custom scaling for the x-axis as well as the y-axis. For example, you can now configure a fixed range for the x-axis.

Enable users to save charts as .png files

You can now enable users to save a report chart as a .png file. On the Chart tab of the Report Definition rule form, click General settings and select the Export chart to image check box. When you select this option, users are provided with the Save as image option, which they can use to save an image of the chart to include in a Word document or email.

Enhancements to exporting reports to Excel

When you export report results to Microsoft Excel, the process now creates a Data sheet and an Info sheet in the Excel file. By default, the Info sheet contains the report title, filters used to generate the report, the date when the report was generated, and the number of results returned.

If you want the report title and filters to display in the first sheet instead of the Info sheet, you can disable the default functionality. For more information, see Disabling the creation of an Info sheet in Excel output.

Ability to include all properties in search results

You can now include all properties in a class in search results so that they can be used in report filtering. When the Enable search results for all properties option is selected on the Custom Search Properties rule form, all top level and embedded page scalar properties for the class are indexed and returned in search results, and all embedded page list, page group, value list, and value group properties for the class are indexed but not returned in search results. Selecting this option might affect performance.

In addition, by default, properties defined in the Data-Tag-RelevantRecord instance for a class are indexed and returned in search results and do not need to be explicitly configured.

You must reindex search after selecting or clearing Enable search results for all properties and after changing the properties that are defined in the Data-Tag-RelevantRecord instance.

Compact style sheet for creating PDF files

You can now use a compact style sheet when you create PDF files by using the Create PDF smart shape in a case type or when you use the HTMLtoPDF activity. This style sheet overrides the style sheet that is used by the harness skin and correctly renders certain elements such as headings and inline grid tables. It also renders PDF files more quickly.

Data pages can source information from a robotic process automation

When you use robotic process automation (RPA), you can now configure data pages to source information from robotic automations so that you can connect your Pega® Platform application to legacy applications in your enterprise. By using automations to retrieve data and save it to a data page, you can use data virtualization to encapsulate your Pega Platform data model from the physical interface of a legacy system against which the automation is running.

Improvements to support Kibana log viewing

Pega® Cloud resolved a known infrastructure error that prevented customers in AP-southeast-2 region from properly viewing their log messages in Kibana.

Pega Cloud introduced this enhancement as of QI 2018.

View status of custom search indexes

Custom search indexes are special purpose indexes that are created and managed outside of Pega Platform™. You can view the status of custom search indexes on the Search landing page to see whether they are complete. This information is useful for troubleshooting and can help you determine whether to rebuild the index.
