Progress gauge and double donut charts
Valid from Pega Version 8.2
To better visualize data, use the new progress gauge chart and double donut pie charts. The progress gauge chart measures the progress made against a goal. The double donut pie chart shows two layers of data in a single chart. The progress gauge chart can be included in reports and dashboard widgets. The double donut chart can be added to dashboard widgets.
For more information about including charts in reports, see Harness and section forms - Adding a chart.
For more information about adding charts to dashboard widgets, see Adding a widget to your dashboard.
Enhanced support for the Kibana platform
Pega Cloud Services began running Kibana 4.6.x. In addition to this version update, the Kibana viewer now includes:
- “DEBUG” level messages in PegaRULES log
- The PegaRULES-SecurityEvent log
Pega Cloud Services support for the AWS EU (Paris) region
Valid from Pega Version Pega Cloud
Pega Cloud Services now supports deployment to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) EU (Paris) region. Deployment across multiple availability zones within a geographical region protects against zone faults and localized service disruptions, and ensures high availability.
For more information about regions and availability zones, see Pega Cloud availability and resiliency.
This additional region is available as of QI 2019.
Automatic redirection to HTTPS for Pega Cloud Services environments
Valid from Pega Version Pega Cloud
Pega Cloud Services now redirects HTTP to HTTPS automatically for applications that run in Pega Cloud Services environments. This automatic redirection ensures that your network traffic is always encrypted.
BIX ruleset is now included with Pega Platform
Valid from Pega Version 8.3
The Pega Business Intelligence Exchange™ (BIX) ruleset is now included with Pega Platform™, which eliminates the need for additional provisioning for Pega Cloud customers and for a separate BIX installation for on-premises customers. To add BIX to your application, add the Pega-BIX:<version>
ruleset to your application rulesets.
For more information, see Data extraction.
Upgrade impact
After a successful upgrade, the BIX ruleset is available within Pega Platform. You should synchronize the BIX ruleset and Pega rules to avoid extraction errors.
What steps are required to update the application to be compatible with this change?
After the upgrade is complete, change the ruleset version for Pega Platform and BIX to use the same, latest version.
Insights from 8.5 require additional configuration after upgrade
Valid from Pega Version 8.6
Upgrade impact
After you upgrade Pega Platform™ version 8.5 to 8.6, the Explore Data landing page might not include insights that come from the earlier version of the product.
What steps are required to update the application to be compatible with this change?
Run the pxUpgrade85Insights activity to make all insights from version 8.5 accessible for you in 8.6. By running this activity, you upgrade insights with new metadata that is required in version 8.6. For example, the pxUpgrade85Insights activity provides you with the option to set the visibility of insights to private, public or shared.
For more information about insights, see Visualizing data with insights.
New dynamic setting to manage validation of hidden fields
Valid from Pega Version 8.6.4
Pega Platform™ version 8.6.4 introduces a new DSS setting for Theme Cosmos and other section-based applications. The validateHiddenField setting controls whether the application validates fields that you hide through visibility rules. By default, validateHiddenField is set to true
, which means that the application fields are validated for completeness even if they are not displayed in the form. You can also switch off this functionality by changing the setting value to false
.
For more information, see Managing field validation in hidden sections.
