Method for specifying custom search properties has changed

Valid from Pega Version Pega Platform

The method for specifying a custom set of properties that are stored in the Elasticsearch indexes and that can be referenced later in filter conditions or returned in a set or results has changed. Previously, the pySearchModel Data Transform rule was used to specify a custom search property list within a class. The new method is to specify a Data instance of the Data-CustomProperties-Search class.

After upgrading to Pega 7.2, make these changes:

  • Reenter existing pySearchModel Data Transform rules as instances of Data-CustomProperties-Search data instances.
  • Enable the indexing/useDataInstances Data Admin system setting by clicking Records > SysAdmin > Dynamic System Settings.

After you change the set of custom search properties for a class, rebuild the Elasticsearch index for that class on the System Settings Search landing page.

Discontinued support for list view and summary view rules

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

The list view rule and the summary view rule are deprecated, and support for these rules has been discontinued. Existing list view and summary view reports will continue to work on supported browsers. However, the last version of Internet Explorer that list view and summary view rules support is Internet Explorer 11.

You cannot create new list view or summary view reports. Instead, create list reports and summarized reports by using the report definition rule. To prevent display issues, re-create the custom list view and summary view reports that you need as report definition reports.

The UpdateAdaptiveModels agent causes an exception after Pega 7.2 to 7.2.1 upgrade

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

After the Pega 7 Platform is upgraded from version 7.2 to 7.2.1, the log files might show an error that is caused by the UpdateAdaptiveModels agent. This agent is enabled by default and is responsible for updating scoring models in the Pega 7 Platform. If you use adaptive models in your solution, you can avoid this error by configuring the Adaptive Decision Manager service. If you do not use adaptive models, disable the UpdateAdaptiveModels agent.

For more information, see Configuring the Adaptive Decision Manager service and Pega-DecisionEngine agents.

BIX -I command-line option fails for unexposed properties

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) command-line extractions fail when the extract has a filter that uses unexposed property references that are passed in by the input file that you specified in the -I command-line option. Previously, the BIX extraction ignored the filter and the extraction did not fail.

Remove obsolete versions of the PredictiveAnalytics-UI and PredictiveAnalaytics-IntSvcs rulesets

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

After you upgrade the Pega 7 Platform to version 7.2.2, remove the PredictiveAnalytics-UI and PredictiveAnalytics-IntSvcs rulesets from your application as their versions are obsolete. Beginning with Pega 7.2.2, use the Pega-DecisionScience ruleset that contains the latest versions of the PredictiveAnalytics-UI and PredictiveAnalytics-IntSvcs rulesets.

For more information, see About ruleset versions.

Reconfiguration of the Adaptive Decision Manager service after upgrade to Pega 7.2.1

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

After you upgrade the Pega 7 Platform to version 7.2.1, you need to reconfigure the Adaptive Decision Manager service. Beginning with Pega 7.2.1, the Adaptive Decision Management (ADM) service is native to the Pega 7 Platform and is supported by the Decision data node infrastructure.

For more information, see Services landing page.

Reconfiguration of the Adaptive Decision Manager service after upgrade to Pega 7.2.2

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

After you upgrade the Pega 7 Platform to version 7.2.2 from a version prior to 7.2,1, you need to configure the Adaptive Decision Manager service. Beginning with Pega 7.2.1, the Adaptive Decision Management (ADM) service is native to the Pega 7 Platform and is supported by the Decision data node infrastructure.

For more information, see Services landing page.

New process for Pega Cloud customers to obtain BIX extract files

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The process for obtaining Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) extract and manifest files for Pega® Cloud customers has changed as a result of data security enhancements for HIPAA compliance. By default, after upgrading to Pega 7.3, you must obtain the BIX extract and manifest files from the Pega SFTP server. From within Designer Studio, you can configure the BIX extract and manifest files to be sent to a remote SFTP server by a file listener. For Pega Cloud customers who have purchased a Pega Cloud SFTP Server subscription, you can configure BIX to send the BIX extract and manifest files to the SFTP server's folders for remote SFTP client download.

For more information about obtaining files from the Pega SFTP server, see Obtaining BIX extract files from the Pega SFTP server.

For more information about having files sent to your SFTP server, see Defining SFTP-related data instances.

Interactions in flows are no longer supported by the Run Interaction shape

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

The Run Interaction shape in flows has been replaced by the Run Data Flow shape, which supports running a single case data flow with a strategy. Flows that include the Run Interaction shape continue to work; however, you must now use the Utility shape to reference any new interactions that you create.

For more information, see Running a decision strategy from a flow and About Interaction rules.

Behavior changes when reporting on descendant classes

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

Report Definitions that use the Report on descendant class instances option with the Include all descendant classes option apply only to the Applies to Class. Join classes are not included as they were in previous Pega® Platform versions. The following example shows what happens for each possible scenario for Report on descendant class instances when the report is defined on ClassA with a class join with Work-.

  • If Report on descendant class instances is disabled, the report runs against ClassA and the join happens with Work-. The behavior is the same in Pega 7.3.1 as it is in previous Pega Platform versions.
  • If Report on descendant class instances is enabled, and Include single implementation class is selected, the report runs against ClassA and the join happens with the MySampleClass implementation class. The behavior is the same in Pega 7.3.1 as it is in previous Pega Platform versions.
  • If Report on descendant class instances is enabled, and Include all descendant classes is selected, the report runs against ClassA and its descendants and the join happens with Work-. In previous Pega Platform versions, the join happened with the MySampleClass implementation class.
