Discontinued support for list view and summary view rules

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

The list view rule and the summary view rule are deprecated, and support for these rules has been discontinued. Existing list view and summary view reports will continue to work on supported browsers. However, the last version of Internet Explorer that list view and summary view rules support is Internet Explorer 11.

You cannot create new list view or summary view reports. Instead, create list reports and summarized reports by using the report definition rule. To prevent display issues, re-create the custom list view and summary view reports that you need as report definition reports.

List view and summary view reports might not display in HTML5-compliant browsers

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

List view and summary view reports use framesets to provide a view of drill-down reports. HTML5 does not support framesets, so these reports might not display well, or at all, in versions of browsers that are compliant with HTML5.

To prevent display issues, re-create the custom list view and summary view reports that you need as report definition reports. Standard management reports are already available as report definition reports.

As of Pega 7.2, list view and summary view rules are deprecated. For more information, see Discontinued support for list view and summary view rules.

Improvements to support Kibana log viewing

Pega® Cloud resolved a known infrastructure error that prevented customers in AP-southeast-2 region from properly viewing their log messages in Kibana.

Pega Cloud introduced this enhancement as of QI 2018.

View status of custom search indexes

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

Custom search indexes are special purpose indexes that are created and managed outside of Pega Platform™. You can view the status of custom search indexes on the Search landing page to see whether they are complete. This information is useful for troubleshooting and can help you determine whether to rebuild the index.

For more information, see Checking search index status.

New tile view in Report Browser

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The Report Browser now displays available reports in a tile view, in addition to the list view. You can toggle between the two display formats. The report tiles provide a thumbnail preview of each report, which makes it easier for you to identify reports at a glance, without having to open each report.

For more information, see Report Browser features.

Ability to view a PDF file while offline

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.9

Users of offline-enabled mobile apps can now tap a button to view a PDF file, regardless of whether the user is online or offline. The associated button, link, or icon must have a Run Script action defined that calls the pega.ui.pdf.view() function with two parameters: applicationName and pdfName. The PDF file itself must be uploaded to a Rule-File-Binary rule.

For more information, see How to set up viewing of PDF file while offline.

Attach Content control enhancements

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

You can now use the Attach Content control in Pega® Platform to configure compression options that limit the size of files created on a mobile device. For example, you can choose from predefined settings to limit video duration or image size. These settings apply when the user records a new video or takes a new photo, but they do not apply to prerecorded media.

Also, when attaching content to a custom mobile app, users can now select any type of file from any source that is available in the device's native file picker component.

For more information, see Configuring file size options for the Attach content control.

Improved capability to attach content in offline-enabled applications

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

The feature for attaching content in applications while in offline mode has been enhanced. A list of attached content is displayed in the application while in offline mode. You can view or delete attachments if the application has not yet been synchronized with the server. You also can change the maximum size of a file that you can attach while working in offline mode. This option gives you the flexibility to select the right size of attachment for a specific application for performance, memory limitation, or security reasons.

For more information, see Attach content support in offline mode.

Support for large binary data item storage in Pega Mobile Client and offline case attachments in Pega Platform

Valid from Pega Version 7.4

Pega® Mobile Client can now store and synchronize large binary data items and their corresponding actions from the action queue on Android and iOS devices. As a result, custom mobile app users can view, attach, and delete data files, whether the device is online or offline. For this function to work, you must enable offline case attachment support, which allows your custom mobile apps to synchronize case attachments between the Pega Platform and the mobile device.

For more information, see Enabling offline case attachments support and Client Store API.

Chart drilldown capabilities extended to dashboard widgets

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

When the chart for a report is displayed in a dashboard widget, you now can click any part of the chart to drill down and view the subset of data for that part. This enhancement provides you with an accurate view of the data that determines the report results. Previously, this capability was provided only in the Report Viewer.
