Organization Setup superseded by New Application Wizard

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.3

The Organization Setup Wizard has been retired in PRPC 7.1.3.  This feature was previously launched from the Designer Studio > Org & Security > Organization > Organization Setup menu. Users are encouraged to run the New Application Wizard (also known as Application Express) instead:

This tool quickly generates an application along with all of the artifacts previously offered by the Organization Setup Wizard. This includes, but is not limited to, the class hierarchy, application rule, organization/division/unit rules, and all relevant data instances.

See the following PDN article for more details on the New Application Wizard:

Create new applications quickly and easily with Application Express

Customize your report headers

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.5

You can customize the way that the header for all of an application's reports will be displayed by overriding the section pyReportEditorHeader. Save a copy of this section into the application's ruleset, then edit it to display the information, images, and layout that you desire. Once changes are saved, each of your application's reports will automatically use the updated header.

Advanced inline report filters

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.5

You can create a custom section and use it to display report filter controls at the top of the report, replacing the default display. The custom section can include basic controls (such as a drop-down menu or text entry field), and the controls can only provide values for the filter functions established in the Edit filters section of the Query tab for the Report Definition.

Use "alternate database" as report source

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.6

You can opt to use the the "alternate database" identified in the Reports Database field of the Data-Admin-DB-Table instance that supports the Applies To class of a report as the source for the report. This reduces the load on the database that serves your application when you run the report.

Attachment support for requirements

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.6

Requirements now support attachments. You can add attachments from the Designer Studio > Application > Profile > Requirements landing page, the Add/Edit Requirement modal, or the requirement rule form.

Enhanced document generation

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.6

The following usability improvements have been made to documents generated by the Application Document Wizard:

  • Stages and Processes now appear for case types that use Case Lifecycle Management. This diagram includes hyperlinks to corresponding sections in the document and is scoped to top-level processes only.
  • All flows (excluding pyStartCase) referenced by a case type now appear in documents. This removes previous constraints on non-starting, draft, and checked out flows.
  • Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) are now embedded in documents as Visio objects.
  • Sections without content are omitted from the generated document.
  • Screenshots are labeled.
  • Requirement text (Long Description) is included in the Requirements Matrix section.
  • Linked requirements appear in context beneath their associated specification.
  • Acceptance Criteria appears in context beneath the associated specification, report, or correspondence item.

Tracked changes persist between client sessions

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

The Microsoft Word native change tracking feature persists between client sessions for specifications. Enable this feature to facilitate collaborative reviews of your specifications with project stakeholders.

Inserting your specification updates as tracked changes allows you to:

  • Provide visible markup to the next reviewer.
  • Correlate edits to a specific user and time.
  • Generate documents that include markup and comments.

Local settings, such as the colors you specify for markup, do not persist between clients.

For instructions on how to prevent markup and comments from appearing in generated documents, see Advanced options for editing specifications.

Add multiple attachments at once

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

You can now add more than one attachment to a requirement or specification at a time, without closing the Add/Edit Attachment modal dialog box. Use the traditional browse method to upload an attachment or drag and drop a local file, based on your needs. View and access your attachments from the Application Profile landing page, Requirement form, or Specification form.

Plan projects using release data

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Requirements and specifications can now be mapped to a target release and iteration within a specific release. Populating these fields allows you to set and publish a release schedule through worksheets generated by the Sizing wizard. Access these fields from the Application Profile landing page or by opening any requirement or specification.

The Sizing wizard incorporates values from the Release and Iteration fields for specifications only.

Specification type extended for decisioning users

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Specifications now support a Decision Strategy Manager (DSM) type. This allows you to map your specifications to a decisioning component, such as a strategy or model. After you select an appropriate subtype and provide relevant metadata, you can run the Sizing wizard to incorporate these details into project sizing worksheets.

You must have access to Decision Management rulesets to create DSM specifications. For more information on specification types, refer to the Details tab of the Specification form. To view all specifications in your application, filtered by type, refer to the Application Profile landing page.
