Supported artifacts section removed from repository rule form

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The Supported artifacts check box has been removed from the repository rule form. Developers can use repositories to provide centralized storage, versioning, and metadata support for application artifacts.

For information about repository connections, see Creating a repository for file storage and knowledge management.

Support for character data type on local variables in activities deprecated

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

Support for the character data type for local variables in activities is deprecated. Use the string data type instead.

For more information about activities, see Activities.

When rule might not resolve against @baseclass

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

In the rare case in which a step page context is null, or the pxObjClass associated with the step page is empty, the system no longer attempts to resolve the when rule against @baseclass. As a result, you might see more rule not found errors. Check the step page context and class and ensure that they are not null or empty. In all other cases, if a when rule is not found in any other part of the class hierarchy, the system attempts to resolve it against @baseclass.

Apache Ignite is no longer supported

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

Apache Ignite is no longer supported and has been replaced by Hazelcast Enterprise Edition 3.10 in embedded mode. If you used encryption with Apache Ignite, you can configure encryption on Hazelcast Enterprise Edition in the same way that you configured it for Apache Ignite.

For more information about encrypting nodes, see Enabling encrypted communication between nodes.

Pega unit test suites are now modular

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

It is now possible to include test cases and test suites inside test suites. This feature makes test suites modular and improves the management of cases while creating, modifying, and executing them for regression testing.

For more information, see Pega unit test suites.

REST API now fetches the latest version of Application Quality metrics

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

When you request Application Quality metrics by using the REST service, the service requests a refresh of the metrics. This means that you always get the latest version of the metrics and can decide whether your application is ready for deployment based on that information.

For more information, see Pega API.

Parameter page is automatically removed after each Pega unit test run

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The parameter page is automatically removed after each Pega unit test run. The reliability of subsequent tests is increased because they are not influenced by leftover parameter values that were set by the previous test.

For more information, see Cleaning up your test environment.

Start and stop a coverage session by using the REST API

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now start and stop application-level test coverage by using REST services. You can use the results of the coverage session for gating purposes in a release pipeline.

For more information, see Pega API.

Automatically populate columns on import

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

If an imported archive file adds columns to existing tables, Pega Platform ™ can automatically expose and populate the new columns during the import. For more information, see Import wizard.

Automatically revalidate and save classes after upgrade

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

To automatically revalidate and save classes after an upgrade, edit the product rule definition. After you upgrade the application, the classes you specify are revalidated and saved under the application version context you provide. If the application version exists on the target system before the upgrade, the revalidate and save process is not called.

For more information about editing the product rule, see Specifying product rule deployment options.
