Additional upgrade scripts for new columns

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.4

In Version 6.2, additional columns (Major, Minor, and Patch) containing ruleset Version information were added to 15 tables in the PRPC database. When upgrading from a pre-Pega 7 release, scripts must be manually run after the upgrade to populate these columns.

These scripts are located in the Resource Kit, under Additional Upgrade Scripts.

  • If upgrading to a single schema, run both scripts.
  • If upgrading to a split schema, run the _data script against the data schema and run the _rules script against the rules schema.
Depending upon your database type (platform) and the size of your database, these scripts may require significant time and system resources to run.

Choose the scripts for your database type:

  • db2zos_rulesetversion_columns_data.sql
  • db2zos_rulesetversion_columns_rules.sql

  • mssql_rulesetversion_columns_data.sql
  • mssql_rulesetversion_columns_rules.sql

  • oracle_rulesetversion_columns_data.sql
  • oracle_rulesetversion_columns_rules.sql

  • postgres_rulesetversion_columns_data.sql
  • postgres_rulesetversion_columns_rules.sql

  • udb_rulesetversion_columns_data.sql
  • udb_rulesetversion_columns_rules.sql

Database

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.4

Improvements to data handling were made for search indexing, agent processing, and filtering.  Scripts were provided for proper population of the database tables.

  • Importing data from shared obj-external tables is now supported.
  • A validation warning will now display when an unexposed property is used in filter or join conditions.
  • A Global Search index may now be created across two databases.
  • Agent processing on multiple nodes has been improved.
  • Improvements were made to controls in Report Definition pages which are used in a dynamic grid.
  • Filtering functionality involving special characters has been enhanced.
  • Scripts have been provided to populate the RuleSetVersion Major, Minor, and Patch columns.

Integration

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.4

Critical customer-driven product improvements were made to SOAP services, SOAP connectors and connector wizard, CMIS connectors, and the Pega Image Viewer. These fixes addressed a handful of functionality gaps discovered in PRPC 7.1 and earlier releases by internal and external customers.

  • A Connect-CMIS instance which was created using a reference to an ATOM Server Instance may now use Global Resource Settings.
  • The Execute Synchronously (one-way operation) has been enhanced for SOAP Services.
  • The Silverlight version of PegaImageViewer has been enhanced to print ranges of multiple pages at once.
  • The SOAP Wizard has been improved to show all the ports which are available in the WSDL file.
  • Two way SSL has been enhanced for the Connect-REST rule.

System Management

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.4

Refinements were made to out-of-place upgrade documentation and processes, as well as for how handling is performed for all of the database vendor specific nuances related to a deploying into a split schema environment.

  • A script was created to run the data schema upgrade for z/OS systems.
  • In a split-schema configuration, indexing has been enhanced.
  • The product installer has been enhanced.
  • The stand-alone Static Assembly Utility does not require a password for its process.
  • The UpdateManager tool has been improved.

Automate business process tracking by importing Excel files

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

To track business processes status and data, you can now import Excel files when you create a case or data object in App Studio. This functionality provides the following enhancements:

  • You can now upload a CSV file when you create a case or data object in App Studio. By importing a CSV file, you can use the data in your spreadsheet to define your data model.
  • You can generate a data import template that you can use to import a file in its original format during production.
  • You can upload .xlsx files to avoid resaving your Excel file as a CSV file.

For more information, see Creating a data model from a spreadsheet.

Data APIs support data exploration in React UI tables

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Data APIs have been enhanced to support filtering, sorting, paging, and aggregation in React UI tables. You can use that functionality to access your data quickly and intuitively. For example, by using paging, you can query a data page to retrieve the second page of an employee contact list and specify the number of results that are displayed on the page.

For more information, see Data API performance and limitations.

Support for application-specific REST API calls

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

You can now call an authenticated REST API in the context of any application that is listed on an operator record by using the application alias URL. With the application alias URL, you can also develop REST services without changing the access group in the service package. REST services run in the context of the access group that points to the provided application, instead of the access group that is specified in the service package.

For more information, see Invoking a REST service rule.

Automatically update dependent applications to use the latest versions of built-on applications

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

You can now automatically update dependent applications to use the latest versions of built-on applications. When you import an archive that you created from a product rule, you can update all dependent applications to be built on the latest application versions in the archive.

For more information, see Updating dependent applications with the latest versions of built-on applications.

Failed Robotic Assignments work queue type changed to Standard

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

The default Failed Robotic Assignments work queue type is now Standard. In previous releases, the default type was Robotic. For usage information, see Configuring a work queue for robotic automation.

Upgrade impact

After upgrading to Pega Platform 8.5 and later, you cannot save case types in which you configure the Queue for robot smart shape to route new assignments to the Failed Robotic Assignments work queue. Existing assignments that you routed to the Failed Robotic Assignments work queue are not affected.

How do I update my application to be compatible with this change?

As a best practice, do not use the Failed Robotic Assignments work queue in your custom implementations. Instead, configure the Queue for robot smart shape to route new assignments to a Robotic work queue. When possible, update existing case types to use the robotic work queues that you created in your application.

Savable data pages support loading pages individually from a page list

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

You can now load individual pages in a page list from single object data pages to your case and data types. This functionality allows you to save autopopulated properties with the Load each page individually option using a flow action, save data page smart shape, or the activity method.

For more information, see Saving data in a data page as part of a flow.
