Deploy in secured mode

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Deploying the Pega 7 Platform in secured mode helps prevent unauthorized access to your system. By default, the Pega 7 Platform deploys in secured mode. For more information, see the Deployment Guide for your environment.

Disregard this startup error for Oracle Weblogic deployments

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

If you install, upgrade, or update your Oracle Weblogic application server to Pega 7.2.2, disregard the error stack that begins with text similar to the following:

ERROR - WebLogic Server 12.1.3.0.0 Wed May 21 18:53:34 PDT 2014 1604337 Oracle WebLogic Server Module Dependencies 12.1 Tue Mar 11 15:35:15 MDT 2014 WebLogic Jersey Server Integration 3.0 Fri Feb 21 10:55:11 UTC 2014 must use JDK 1.8+ with WebSocket
2016-11-07 06:13:01,690 [ WIN-L3EEURCNCP1] [ STANDARD] (pr.DefaultAsyncSupportResolver) ERROR - Real error: Unable to configure jsr356 at that stage. ServerContainer is null

This message appears because the Pega 7.2.2 real-time notification feature initially tries to use WebSocket and then falls back to long polling. The Pega 7 Platform does not support WebSocket for Oracle Weblogic servers, and instead uses long polling for real-time notifications.

Elasticsearch 2.4.0 upgrade

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The Pega 7 Platform has been updated to use Elasticsearch 2.4.0. You do not have to reindex immediately. You can reindex at your convenience by using the FullTextindexer utility, which provides a smoother transition to the next Elasticsearch library upgrade.

Rolling upgrades are not supported. Instead, after the upgrade has been completed, shut down all the nodes in the cluster, and then restart them beginning with the indexing nodes. For more information, see the Pega 7 Platform Upgrade Guide on the Deployment Guides landing page.

Existing operator IDs during upgrades and updates

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Upgrades and updates are always performed in secured mode to help prevent unauthorized access to your system. In secured mode, the [email protected] operator ID is always overwritten, but other existing standard operator IDs are not modified. New operator IDs are inserted in secured mode. For more information, see the Deployment Guide for your environment.

Changes in JSON results when checking the health of your system

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

Beginning with Pega Platform™ 8.2, the JSON results that are returned when you ping a Pega Platform instance have changed. JSON results now include node type and health information, including test name, status, state, and node ID. The following samples show JSON results from versions before 8.2 and as of 8.2.

JSON results for pre-Pega Platform 8.2:

{ "duration":"3954.448601", "count":"0" }

JSON results for Pega Platform 8.2 and later:

{"node_type":["WebUser"],"health":[{"last_reported_time":"2019-02-14T16:10:49.589Z","test_name":"Sample-Stream-Check","status":"success"}],"state":"healthy","node_id":"10.10.10_samplenode"}.

Clustering equal to none might cause errors

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Some Pega 7 Platform features might not work when theidentification/cluster/protocolsetting in the prconfig.xml file is set to none. Some features that might not work are remote tracing and management actions on the node from the Requestor Management and Agent Management landing pages. Setting the clustering protocol to none is not recommended and will not be supported in a future Pega 7 Platform release.

Push notifications and Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.6

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Pega® Platform push notifications can use WebSockets and long polling. However, for WebLogic Server 10.3.6, the push notifications feature does not work. To disable the feature, contact Pegasystems Global Customer Support.

Rule revalidation after updating properties without restarting nodes

Valid from Pega Version 8.2

When you update certain property attributes, such as a property's maximum length, rule types that reference the property might not reflect the change. You do not always have to restart nodes to revalidate the referencing rules when they cannot be resaved, for example, when they are in a locked ruleset. For Pega Platform™ 8.1 and later, for non-stream rules, such as activities, data transforms, and so on, use the reassemble API in Admin Studio or truncate the assembled classes table.

For stream rules, such as sections, harnesses, paragraphs, and so on, reassemble the rules and restart the nodes. For more information, see More about properties.

For previous versions of Pega Platform, use the System Management Application (SMA) to revalidate stream and non-stream rules.

Easily build components for applications

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

A component is a collection of rulesets that you use to create a small feature that can enhance an application. You can now create components that can be applied to applications created in the Pega 7 Platform. You can create and configure components on the new Component rule form and manage them on the Application rule form. Each component creates its own ruleset, which prevents naming conflicts from occurring if, for example, you install two components with the same name. You can upload or download any component from the Pega Exchange.

For more information, see Components.

Roll back system changes by using restore points

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Restore points save the state of your system, including all rule and data instances. You can roll back to this restore point later if there is a problem. The Pega 7 Platform automatically creates restore points before any archive import. You can also use the prpcServiceUtils command-line tool to create and manage restore points and to roll back changes to your application. For more information, see Restore points.
