New formats for styling report data grids

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

When you view a report, the data grid that is displayed is now styled by using either the List report format or the Summarized report format, depending on the report type. With this enhancement, you can display report data differently, and perhaps more effectively, than other grids in your portal. In the skin of your application, these new formats will be added and upgraded automatically by copying the Default format for the Trees & grids layout type, which was previously used to style reports.

For more information, see Modifying data grid formats for reports.

Testing push notifications service connection and configuration

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

From the Push Notifications console, you can now quickly test the configuration of and connection to the push notifications services for both the Android and iOS platforms. Testing push notifications helps to eliminate issues that might occur when you are using a firewall or a secure connection (SSL) between the Pega 7 Platform and your mobile app. If any configuration, connection, or service test errors are generated, you can download and examine the contents of a log file to determine the cause of the error.

For more information, see Testing push notifications.

Limited action set for mobile-optimized grid layouts

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The grid layout supports a limited action set when you select the Optimize for mobile mode. Actions allow you to determine the behavior of the grid. When Optimize for mobile is selected on the General tab of the grid layout properties, the following actions are available on the Actions tab:

  • Set focus
  • Open work by handle
  • Open assignment
  • Edit item

For more information, see Optimize repeating grid layouts for mobile.

Grid layout supports heading level

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The grid layout supports the addition of a heading level. The heading level generates semantic markup and makes the UI structurally understandable for assistive technology users. The heading level is selected in the Presentation tab of the grid layout properties.

For more information see Grid layout - Presentation tab.

Include videos within sections

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You can include videos within sections to build an interactive user experience. As with other standard controls, you can configure the video presentation and event properties. Although the Pega 7 Platform supports multiple video types, use the MP4 format as a best practice.

For more information, see Adding a video to a section.

Data transform support in offline-enabled applications

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You can now use data transforms in offline-enabled applications to reduce the need to write your own custom JavaScript functions. Data transforms are automatically packaged for offline use when they are configured on flow connectors, as preprocessing or postprocessing data transforms on a flow action, or on refresh actions or data transform actions on controls in a section. You also can run a data transform in offline mode by using a Run Script action or a custom JavaScript function, provided you add the data transform definition to the rule of offline-supported data transforms.

For more information, see Data transform support in offline mode.

A new transition effect for actions in custom mobile apps

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Custom mobile apps that are developed on the Pega 7 Platform can include a new transition effect that animates your navigation in cases that use flows. This feature adds to the look-and-feel experience of the custom mobile app.

You can also add the pega.mobile.transitions.GO_HOME transition effect to actions that do not support built-in effects by using the Run Script action and calling the pega.desktop.setNativeTransition() JavaScript method.

For more information, see Transition effects on actions.

Pega Client for Windows

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Pega Client for Windows is a stand-alone application that serves as a container for Pega 7 Platform applications. The target for this product is Windows 10 laptops and tablet devices. It communicates directly with the Pega 7 Platform server to support online and offline-enabled applications. Pega Client for Windows works on 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) Windows devices.

For more information, see Features and functions of the Pega Client for Windows.

Automatic creation of large data pages from Report Definitions

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Offline-enabled mobile apps now use Report Definitions to automate filtering logic for controls that are based on large data pages. You no longer have to use custom JavaScript functions (custom populators) to create large data pages.

For more information, see How to use large data pages to store large reference data in offline mobile apps.

Style charts in the application skin

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You can now style charts in your application skin by selecting Charts in the Controls section and setting a theme. When you style charts by using a theme, charts that are generated for report definition reports and the autogenerated chart control are styled consistently, and you do not need to style charts individually. In addition, you can preview chart themes in the Skin form to see how different charts look without launching an application.

For more information, see Styling charts in the application skin.
