More efficient load management strategies for large data pages

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The processing of large data pages on the Pega 7 Platform server during the packaging of offline apps is now faster and much more memory-efficient, especially in environments with many concurrent users. Server communication with the data source is now also optimized by reducing the number of data transfers to only what is needed. In addition, all types of refresh strategies are supported for large data pages.

For more information, see Tutorial: How to use large data pages to store large reference data in offline mobile apps.

New Mobile Apps form for defining and building mobile apps

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You now create and build mobile apps from the Mobile Apps form instead of from the Mobile tab of the Application rule form. The new console is a control center for mobile apps where you can gather applications, services, components, and settings in one place to fully customize your apps in the Pega 7 Platform. You can create and build one instance of a custom mobile app and define multiple native mobile apps that can use the Pega Mobile SDK. To push notifications to an Android or to an iOS device, you must define an SDK mobile app in the Pega 7 Platform with a certificate set that has push notifications enabled.

For more information, see Configuring a custom mobile app and Configuring push notifications for an SDK app.

Caching of common rules in offline mobile apps

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

To help start offline-enabled mobile apps more quickly from the time when the server was started, you can now cache common Pega 7 Platform rules, including node scope data pages. Optionally, you can also either cache all node scope data pages, with the exception of the selected ones, or cache only the node scope data pages that are explicitly specified. You set up the offline caching options for your custom mobile app in the Advanced tab of the Access Group rule form.

For more information, see the Offline Configuration section in Access Group form - Completing the Advanced tab.

Extended support for Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese in text analytics

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The number of supported languages in the sentiment analysis feature of the Pega 7 Platform has been increased through the addition of sentiment lexicons for Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese in Text Analyzer rules. By using these lexicons, you can now determine the emotional tone of text samples that are written in these languages.

For more information, see Text Analyzer.

Free Text Model rule type name changed to Text Analyzer

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The name of the Free Text Model rule type has been changed to Text Analyzer. When you upgrade to Pega 7.2.2, the rule type name of all Free Text Model rules in your application will change automatically to Text Analyzer.

For more information, see Text Analyzer.

New graphical layout and shapes on the Data Flow form

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

The Data Flow form has an enhanced layout that improves interaction with objects on the canvas and provides better readability of flow shapes. The enhancements also include the addition of Branch and Data Transform shapes, and the Convert shape, which supports page unpacking. With these enhancements, you can build data flows more efficiently and capture business requirements more effectively.

For more information, see Improvements to the Data Flow rule form and New shapes on the Data Flow form.

Monte Carlo data set

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You can now create a Monte Carlo data set that is filled with varied and realistic-looking data. You can use this type of data set to generate random data records to test strategies and data flows.

For more information, see Creating a Monte Carlo data set record.

Support for creating PegaUnit test cases for strategy rules

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You can create PegaUnit test cases for strategy rules in Designer Studio and in the decisioning user portals to compare the output of a strategy to the results that are returned by running the strategy. For example, you can verify that the number of propositions per customer is less than or equal to a certain value.

For more information, see:

Testing push notifications service connection and configuration

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

From the Push Notifications console, you can now quickly test the configuration of and connection to the push notifications services for both the Android and iOS platforms. Testing push notifications helps to eliminate issues that might occur when you are using a firewall or a secure connection (SSL) between the Pega 7 Platform and your mobile app. If any configuration, connection, or service test errors are generated, you can download and examine the contents of a log file to determine the cause of the error.

For more information, see Testing push notifications.

Export and import operations for data sets

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

You can move data between data sets and Pega 7 Platform instances more easily with export and import operations. You can use the export operation to prepare a backup copy of data outside the Pega 7 Platform. The import operation facilitates initialization of new Pega 7 Platform environments by providing a prepared set of data. You can export data from the data sets that support the Browse operation, and you can import data into the data sets that support the Save operation. Export and Import operations are not available for stream data sets such as Facebook, Stream, Twitter, and YouTube.

For more information, see Exporting data from a data set and Importing data into a data set.
