Enhancements for fields in views and data models

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Pega Platform™ now provides a unified experience of adding fields to views, the case type data model, and the application data model, by using an intuitive dialog box. For greater clarity, a new field type, data relationship, replaces data references, field groups, and field group lists. As a result, you can conveniently reuse data objects in your application. 

When you upgrade to Pega 8.5, your system automatically converts your field groups, field group lists, and data references to data relationships. The case type data model now displays all the fields by default, including any referenced fields, and provides an application layer that contains each field. Use this functionality to view how the data is organized across your system.

Add multiple attachments at once

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

You can now add more than one attachment to a requirement or specification at a time, without closing the Add/Edit Attachment modal dialog box. Use the traditional browse method to upload an attachment or drag and drop a local file, based on your needs. View and access your attachments from the Application Profile landing page, Requirement form, or Specification form.

Attachment support for requirements

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.6

Requirements now support attachments. You can add attachments from the Designer Studio > Application > Profile > Requirements landing page, the Add/Edit Requirement modal, or the requirement rule form.

Link URLs to applications, requirements, and specifications

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.8

In addition to files, you can now attach URLs to applications, requirements, and specifications by using the Add/Edit Attachment modal dialog box in Pega 7. This change allows you to link directly to dynamic content in other URL-based systems rather than link to a static file of that content.

New Business impact optimization dashboard

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.9

On the Analysis tab of the Application Profile landing page, you can now enable historical specification count and implementation progress by complexity and business impact. On the Business impact optimization dashboard, you can view counts of specifications by complexity and business impact. You can also view counts, by business objective, of specifications that have been implemented and for those not yet implemented. You can filter specifications by release and iteration.

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.4

This release focused on improving the user experience of creating new rules and tightening up the use of specifications in the Case Designer.  The layout of the New and Save As forms were made more intuitive and intelligent.  Specification actions were made to be more consistent across various aspects of the Case Designer.

  • After removing specification references, users can create and save a new specification.
  • Developers may now choose either an existing specification or create a new one for subflows and Split-For-Each shapes.
  • If a specification is not associated with flow shapes such as sub flows, Utilities, or Split-For-Each, it is possible to import speciications with the same names, and the flow shapes will default to using those imported specs.
  • In the outline view, specification changes will be preserved when switching from tab to tab.
  • The View Full Details functionality from either Configure Step or the Outline View will display all details, including the specification requirement links.

Associate specifications on implementation rule forms

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

You can now view, add, and delete the specifications that are associated with a rule on the new Specifications tab of most rule forms. The Specifications tab is available for almost all implementation rules, except for administrative and deprecated rule types. By associating specifications with the rules that implement them, you improve the end-to-end traceability of your specifications.

Nested conditions visible in the condition builder

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

Condition builder now supports the option to view nested conditions in a read-only mode, so that you can conveniently analyze and understand logic in your application. For example, if you create a condition that uses another When condition rule as a value to compare at run time, you can preview the configuration of that When condition. You can use this feature with When conditions nested at multiple levels, so that you can analyze even complex logic in your application.

Searching for Pulse messages available in spaces

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Pega Platform™ now supports searching for Pulse messages within a space. For greater accuracy of the results, you can search by applying different filters, such as keywords, message authors, and a time range for posting of the messages. The results return private and public posts, comments, and attachments that match the search filters. When the result is a comment, Pulse displays the whole message thread for full context.

Specification type extended for decisioning users

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Specifications now support a Decision Strategy Manager (DSM) type. This allows you to map your specifications to a decisioning component, such as a strategy or model. After you select an appropriate subtype and provide relevant metadata, you can run the Sizing wizard to incorporate these details into project sizing worksheets.

You must have access to Decision Management rulesets to create DSM specifications. For more information on specification types, refer to the Details tab of the Specification form. To view all specifications in your application, filtered by type, refer to the Application Profile landing page.
