Open cases in a mobile app with push notifications sent from Pega 7 Platform applications

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.1

Push notification smart shapes in a workflow of a Pega 7 Platform application can now send push notifications that open a case in a custom mobile app. Users working in the field can use this feature to instantly access priority assignments instead of having to search for changes manually.

For more information, see Configuring the Push Notification shape.

Deploy revisions directly in target environments

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

As a revision manager, you can now directly deploy or migrate completed revisions to multiple Pega 7 Platform environments that were configured as targets by the system architect. The revision management process is faster because you do not need to package a revision as a JAR file, and then manually import that file to the Pega 7 Platform. Additionally, this solution gives business users more control over application rulesets and enables them to act more independently.

For more information, see Direct deployment of revisions.

BIX extracts can be scheduled and run from the Pega 7 Platform by using agents

Valid from Pega Version 7.2

You can create an agent that periodically invokes the new pxExtractDataWithArgs activity to run a BIX Extract rule. The activity takes the class and extract rule name, as well as an additional input string with a list of BIX command-line parameters, as input parameters to use for the run.

Platform truststore for validating certificates

Valid from Pega Version 8.3

Pega Platform™ now includes a platform truststore, to which you can import X.509 certificates that are common across platform applications. When a certificate needs to be validated, Pega Platform looks for the certificate at the connector level, then in the platform truststore, and finally in the application server (JVM) truststore. You can add, update, and delete certificates in the platform truststore without having to restart the server, which is useful when TLS certificates are changed for reasons such as key rotation.

For more information, see Importing an X.509 certificate.

Direct deployment of decision parameters

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.7

Direct deployment overlays now enable business users to own decision parameters. Revisions based on this new type of overlay can be directly activated by Decision Manager portal users. For more information on this feature, see the Revision Management landing page.

Tab groups are deprecated

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Beginning with Pega 7.3, tab groups have been replaced with layout groups, which offer better performance and flexibility. Tab groups are based on the Yahoo User Interface (YUI) library, which is no longer supported on the Pega 7 Platform.

User interface rule forms now use layout groups instead of tab groups to place layouts in forms.

For more information, see Adding a Layout Group.

Enhanced support for the Kibana platform

Pega Cloud Services began running Kibana 4.6.x. In addition to this version update, the Kibana viewer now includes:

  • “DEBUG” level messages in PegaRULES log
  • The PegaRULES-SecurityEvent log

Encrypt sensitive case data by using a secure default Pega Platform cipher and AWS KMS keys

Valid from Pega Version 7.3.1

You can encrypt sensitive data within your application without having to write custom cipher classes. You can configure encryption on the Data Encryption landing page by using your own keys managed in your private Amazon Web Services Key Management Service (AWS KMS) instance. Pega® Platform encryption uses keys that are stored in AWS KMS to support both time-based and on-demand key rotation. Technical issues can arise in some cases, for example, if a key is deleted from AWS KMS.

For more information, see Potential problems with keystores when using AWS KMS, Configuring a Platform cipher, Types of ciphers.

PegaWAI ruleset deprecated in 8.5

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Accessibility functions that were contained in the PegaWAI ruleset are now integrated into the main Pega Platform™. Consequently, the user interface in your applications now features accessibility functions out of the box, so you no longer need to use the PegaWAI ruleset to ensure accessible behavior in your application.

For more information, see Building an accessible UI.

Simplified Adaptive Decision Manager Deployment

Valid from Pega Version 7.1.6

The Adaptive Decision Manager (ADM) server relies on automatic detection of the database dialect. This simplifies the number of deployable archives used to set up the ADM service.
