Quality metrics now include charts with trends

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The Application Quality landing page now contains charts that show changes in metrics over time. Landing pages for Test coverage and Unit testing also contain interactive charts with user-defined date range filters. The default date range of the charts is 2 weeks, but you can change it by using the Application: Quality Settings landing page. The historical data provided by the charts shows changes in application quality metrics over time, so that you can recognize trends and identify potential problems with application quality.

For more information, see Application Quality landing page.

New landing page allows you to customize the presentation of quality metrics

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

From the new Application: Quality Settings landing page, you can specify which built-in apps to include for testing. You can also modify the date range for graphs on the Application Quality, Application: Test coverage, and Application: Unit testing landing pages. Additionally, you can specify how many days the tests are considered current to be included on the Application Quality dashboard and in reports. By configuring how quality metrics are displayed, you can customize data presentation according to your needs, which can help improve the quality of your application.

For more information, see Application: Quality Settings landing page.

PegaWAI ruleset deprecated in 8.5

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

Accessibility functions that were contained in the PegaWAI ruleset are now integrated into the main Pega Platform™. Consequently, the user interface in your applications now features accessibility functions out of the box, so you no longer need to use the PegaWAI ruleset to ensure accessible behavior in your application.

For more information, see Building an accessible UI.

New roles required for system management features and APIs after upgrade

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The pzSystemOperationsObserver and pzSystemOperationsAdministator privileges are no longer used for accessing system management features in Admin Studio and for system management APIs. Pega Platform™ has new privileges for individual system management functions and new roles configured with these privileges. Use the following roles to access system management features and APIs:

  • PegaRULES:SysOpsAdministrator – has all administrator and observer privileges
  • PegaRULES:SysOpsObserver – has all observer privileges
  • PegaRULES:SysAdm4 – has all administrator and observer privileges

After upgrading, you can include one or more of these roles in your access group or create a custom role. For more information about access roles, see Access roles.

Personalized table views

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now configure tables so that users can personalize table views at run time. Users can specify which columns to display, resize and reorder columns, and set an initial sort order and initial column filter. When users save these personalized settings, the table displays the personalized view each time that users access the table.

Personalizing table views can help users work more efficiently by providing greater control over what data they see and how it is presented.

For more information, see Configuring a table for personalization.

Authentication profile for Connect REST might be removed after upgrade

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The Use authentication check box has been removed from the Service tab on the Connect REST form. As a result, after an upgrade, the Authentication profile field might be blank even if an authentication profile was previously configured.

  • If the Use authentication check box was cleared prior to upgrading and the Authentication profile field was configured with an authentication profile name, the Authentication profile field is blank. If you are using authentication, you must reenter the profile name.
  • If the Use authentication check box was selected prior to upgrading and the Authentication profile field was configured with an authentication profile name, the Authentication profile field retains the previous configuration.

Select or edit a label format at run time

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

At run time in App Studio, when you edit a control, you can now select a new label format for the control or edit the currently selected label format. This change provides you with the flexibility to update control labels in real time as you process cases.

For more information, see Styling controls at run time.

Security fields in JFrog Artifactory repository rule form removed

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

The fields in the Security section of the JFrog Artifactory repository rule form, including the Secure protocol field, the Truststore field, and the Keystore field, were not functional in Pega Platform™ 7.3, 7.3.1, and 7.4. This section has been removed from the JFrog Artifactory repository rule form in Pega Platform 8.1.

Support for application-specific REST API calls

Valid from Pega Version 8.5

You can now call an authenticated REST API in the context of any application that is listed on an operator record by using the application alias URL. With the application alias URL, you can also develop REST services without changing the access group in the service package. REST services run in the context of the access group that points to the provided application, instead of the access group that is specified in the service package.

For more information, see Invoking a REST service rule.

Deprecated support for Pega Platform deployments on embedded Cassandra

Valid from Pega Version 8.6

If you use Pega Platform™ decision management capabilities, Pega Platform uses Cassandra as the underlying storage system for the Decision Data Store (DDS), which manages the Cassandra cluster and stores decision management data in a Cassandra database. Future versions of Pega Platform will no longer support deployments on embedded Cassandra. In Pega Platform version 8.6, deployments using embedded Cassandra are deprecated but still work. To ensure future compatibility, do not create any new installations using embedded Cassandra.

For information about how to configure Pega Platform to access an external database, see Defining Pega Platform access to an external Cassandra database.
